Seven ancient wonders

Unread post by Steve Dubya »

Would the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World make for an interesting plotline or not (quick - name all seven off the top of your head, like post it - and THEN check to see if you are right... So far, I haven't run into ANYONE who got all seven...)? Like, if there was something happening at each of the locations that involved some aspect of the original Wonder...

Of course, I will go into further detail after people have a shot at seeing what they got right... No need to spoil the fun prematurely.
"Things aren't what they used to be" is the rallying cry of small minds. When men say things used to be better, they invariably mean they were better for them, because they were young, and had all their hopes intact. The world is bound to look a darker place as you slide into the grave.

Great Pyramid of Giza
Statue of Zeus at Olympia
Hanging Gardens of Babylon
Temple of Artemis at Ephesus
Mausoleum of Maussollos at Halicarnassus
Colossus of Rhodes
Lighthouse of Alexandria.

Only one of them still definitively exists (the Great Pyramids)...so as a plot point, I doubt they would all have much use in a Modern BTS game, save for archaelogical adventures to find one of the six that no longer exist..

Man...years ago I was kicking around the idea of doing the Nightland equivalents of the Ancient and Modern wonders of the world for a Rifter Submission. I'd totally forgotten about it. Might be worth dusting off. Thanks for reminding me! :)

Exact same problem I have, and probably for the same reason :-P

Interestingly, there has been some rumor that they may have located the Lighthouse at Alexandria. I saw a history channel show on it a couple years back, and they'd located a tower built into an ancient city wall, that didn't match the others in size or composition. It had an outer layer matching the wall, which had been built many years after a unique inner layer. The inner layer was made of the right materials, and matched old descriptions of the lighthouse. Dunno what became of that particular bit of archaeology.
