is there 2nd ed. magic possibilities?

Unread post by tmk2323 »

Does anyone have any Idea how the magic may be presented?
Are there any changes to how the magic is presented?
Is there going to be a chart for the P.P.E. similiar to the I.S.P. ?
Is there going to be any changes to the P.P.E. costs??
oh well just a few questions.

I think magic is more likely to go the opposite way... not that you have less energy when in a sterile setting, but that its harder (i.e. higher PPE cost). However, magicians would be good at manipulating their settings to be less sterile.

It is my hope that the magic system doesn't undergo too many changes, as I would prefer to keep all the books compatible.

The write up was on this board before and I thought it reported that PPE was similar to ISP. You had much less PPE, but got the multiple, which would mean spells would probably have different casting costs.

Wow Zylo, good find! Glad to hear the tidbits I wrote there still pop up useful :-)

Indeed, I played an Arcanist in Kev's BTS2 game at Indy last year, and was told that P.P.E. worked with a multiplier, just like I.S.P.

I'd think for ease of use it would be the opposite. That you could gather less energy and things cost the same. Thats just as logical as have the same PPE on a low magic world as a high magic world.

See, I'm not terribly sure about this multiplier business (haven't read the psychic multiplier) and how it seems to not be fully detailed, but in theory it sounds like a good concept.

Low magic world, you have less P.P.E., but when you get to a place of magic, you get extra. Supernatural creatures also count as "places of magic" to some extent in such a low magic world.

The concept sounds very interesting and I'm already considering some plot where someone is keeping supernatural creatures as slaves/prisoners to gain extra P.P.E.
