At the Open House
..It was awesome. I wish we could have made it to the Friday event, but even if we'd registered in time, we still spent three hours in traffic in Chicago.
..When Xar came to pick me up and ErickStormbright and his lovely lady showed up to drive along with us, I was still hard at work in my Frito bin. By the time we got to town, it was around 2AM, and we'd left at 10AM (11AM Eastern time).
..Awesome weekend. New friends, faces for old friends, fun gaming and awesome conversations.
..My only regret is not getting enough time to have some really good conversations with more people. We gave SavariousX1 and his lady a ride back to the hotel and talked for several hours. Talked several times with Warwolf. Gamed with Carl Gleba and Carmen "Killer GM" Bellaire, started our gaming in Julius Rosenstein's game (awesome Julius!).
..I'm afraid I didn't get much good video. The acoustics were terrible; I did get some and I'll send it alll to RoadWarriorFWaNK for the project, but I'm really not impressed with what I did.
..I did capture the end surprise for Kev, and I got quite a few setup pics/overview of games pics.
..Oy, it's almost 2AM here, I need to hit the sack.

I'm glad you got the end surprise. I was actually in his office when it happened so me, roadwarriorfwank, and even Wayne Smith missed it. Now I can at least see it on video.

..I also got several pictures of people with Kev in front of the Glitterboy afterwards.
..Xar and I are stopping by tomorrow before we head home. I'll see about doing a video tour of the office section.

the end surprise was the presentation of a fromed print (the one kevin drew) that was matted and framed by a bunch of the people who were at the open house.

I was wondering where you went. I was going to get contact info from you, but alas I guess we'll have to resort to shady, backroom, PM deals.

lol that's what the guy was doing? he didn't say why he wanted me, heather and Warwolf to sign it, but we did. that's so damn cool, and yes we all got to see the print and it kicks major butt! i just wish i had more money to spend while i was there. but i'll just get ours later, no biggie. but yeah.. great meeting Kev and the crew, Zar, Madman, Killer cyborg..and so many others. it was truly an Awasum weekend. they should have one the sametime every year from now on just to remember all the fans support.
I am master of all I see.... and I see Everything.
Actually wasn't the print one that Subbie got commissioned especially for Kev? Not the one that Kev drew (Unless more than one person was planning on doing this)...

I didn't have it framed (no time)...he loved the one I had done for him though.
Another guy bought a print and had everyone at the Open House sign it for him. I am not sure which one was being talked about as I had to go home early on Saturday.
I'm glad Kevin had a good time, and it's a totally cool idea to give him one that we've signed for him.

Oh yeah - and that was an original, not a print.

As I said in the earlier PM, you're a great guy too man. I'm glad to have met you and your lady friend and am glad that everyone had a great time. I *REALLY* hope that PalCon becomes an annual event.

So YOU'RE the one who was in front of me in line that was showing off the commissioned print! I wish I would have know that was you Subbie! As I said there though, that was AWESOME!
Yeah, the presentation at the end was awesome, and I was glad to be involved in some small way. Somone mentioned that we should get more people over to see it. So I was the loud guy you all heard beckon you over. Then I got to stand there on the front row and watch Kevin accept it. I think the man even got a little teary-eyed at the sentiment. Truly an awesome moment...
The print was one of the "Megaverse United" un-umbered prints that was signed by many of the attendees at the Open House (myself included). Some had even taken the time to add some gold and silver coloring to accent the print. It was all nicely framed and I hope it finds a place either in Kevin's office or even home.
Oh, and I agree that both Subbie and the guy that circulated the print deserve a great deal of Kudos.

If you look under the "What's in your goodie bag" forum, there's more on what the print was all about...to make the long story short, it wasn't originally inteded to go to Kev...but when so many people signed it (and from some thoughts by a couple other there)...I made the decision after leaving Saturday. It was on the way home (around 2 a.m. since I went to a concert and played some billiards) that I got the silver and gold paint pens...the mat and the frame...all at Meijer btw...and got pulled over by a cop to boot...he only gave me a warning...I guess all the RPG books in the back seat threw him off...but it was beautifully done I do have to say...had a couple things messed up while I was painting away (hey...it was 2 a.m....I did the best I could)

Yeah, if you go to that thread and read just under Xar's post, I've already commented on it. I thought the fans had gone ape with the pens though... you did a good job on it.
