Question about the PSE-7000

This handy tricorder...oops, sorry. this handy handheld unit has an add-on feature can identify individual life signs and even track them by reading their bio-energy signature.

now a fun question.

The Temporal Spell, Attune Object to Owner, adjusts an object so that that object resonates with their bio-energy signature and only they can use it. Can this device pick up on the link?

I ask because it could help keep operators from going insane trying to figure out why some...special...device they stole from a bad guy suddenly refuses to preform any of it's cool functions.

Yeah. aThe standard PSE-7000 is out of luck on that one. The Arcance scanner however, could tell that there was a magicical effect going on, even see and sense dimensional anomalies.

i'm looking for a logical explination. why not? the spell mearly manipulates bio-energy, which is what it sense.

unless you somehow belive magical fire dosn't show up on thermal sensors?

I'm looking for a reason here.

If your characters can afford them both. Why not get them both. That little extra cover doesn't hurt.

Well does the spell imbue an object with bio-energy? Probably not. There is just some kind of mystic link that connect the user to the object. Can a PSE-7000 tell the difference between a rune sword and a regular sword. Sure if they are different types of materials, but it can't detect the mystic portion of the rune weapon, or that its connected to a specific user.

Thats my take on it. Like gadrin said, the arcane scanner could be configured to detect it.

I suggest the attunement removes an energy aspect of the device rather than adds one. It doesn't work until that energy is returned to it. Otherwise there is not excuse for the device not to work in the hands of another.
