Open House 2007
Yes, May 2007. It's only 10 months away - time to start planning!
I, for one, shall run a Valley of the Pharaohs campaign, using one of my complete original boxed sets! Tenatively titled "Living in De-Nile," the players will find themselves the footsoldiers in a brewing conflict between kings and pretenders, gods and false idols. Who shall come out on top, and win the hearts of the citizens of Egypt? Better start studying today - that system is completely different from the megaversal one (available on the Cutting Room Floor for folks without a copy, or who don't want to use theirs).
So... how about everybody else? What plans are already laid for next year's Palladium bash?

OK - I *LOVE* this idea! This is FANTASTIC!
An add-on idea - we could get a nice suite at the hotel and could share it. The suite I had last year was huge and had PLENTY of room.

There are many places I would not fit in, but I still go. I go for me, not to "fit in" or care if I do.

See, at the open house I seriously thought that I was going to have certain issues with people. I just *knew* that if I saw Killer Cyborg we would get into it about something or other. (just one example of many) but when I got there and realized that the anonimity of the internet ends when you meet the people behind the avatar and find that they are nice interesting people that you could have alot in common with. KC and I didn't argue the whole time and actually had many great conversations. I know that you (gomen) and I have exchanged words and such, but I would still love to see you at the open house next year.
I am going to do all in my power to go next year, but I have a wedding to go to (mine) and don't know if I can swing it. I'll find out as we get closer.

You and I have some fundamentally different views on Palladium and on roleplaying, but we have something more important things in common:
We both love Palladium.
We both love role-playing.
So we can certainly get along in spite of lesser disagreements.

Very Very True. When it gets right down to brass tacks, many of us can just agree to disagree and like to hear tales of the games each other is in/running. Jason Marker had some of the most awesome stories I heard that whole weekend and being such an animated story teller, he often had crowds around him all rolling with laughter. Some games are run like that and for others thats not their style, but we can all appreciate a good game and great stories.

Here come the Texans
We discussed attending the 2007 Palladium Open House at our Dallas-Ft. Worth area Rifts: Arzno roleplaying game this weekend.
Because it would be celebrating the one year anniversary of our present campaign, we agreed to try to participate in this event next May.
I also discussed this with a few gaming friends of mine in the Chicago area, who I have not had the pleasure of gaming with for nearly 20 years. They said they would also try to attend this event.
We look forward to meeting many of you there in May 2007!

KC and I disagree on a lot of things, but I still respect him and I believe he respects me. I actually like the guy, believe it or not. I don't have to agree with someone to like them...in fact, disagreements (if civil) can make people more interesting!
Nekira and I disagree a lot too, but I think it'd be great to hang out with her. Ditto a lot of other people.

And if its the same deal as before with Pally, I will be running atleast two games. One of HU and one of Splicers. This time I WILL run TWO games as opposed to one long, 6+ hr game.

Last year, I couldn't do it because it was the same weekend as Anime Central in Chicago- But this year, it's the second weekend, where I thik I read that the Open house would be once again, the first weekend of May. Meaning that if it is still the first weekend while MCCC & A-Cen are teh second, I can blow off MCCC and May for me will look like:
May 4-6 Palladium Open House <--- this would be way win for me.
May 11-13 Anime Central
May 18-21 *breather*
May 25-27 Anime North
June 1-3rd Project: A-Kon
June 8-10 AnthroCon

I was just talking to my brother about this, and he mentioned that he saw it in the Rifter and asked if we're going again. He's excited about it as well. We had a BLAST last time, and plan on showing up again. Perhaps we won't be so lazy and do our best to keep up with Mark Dudley and Apollo, doing some sketches.
I still think the writers should set up a table and sell "short stories" (instead of sketches) based on player characters. We'll form a line and they write the stories, we'll do the sketches.

Hehe, that would be awesome. I don't pretend to be a professional writer, but I used to have fun doing stuff like that when I worked as a storyteller guide in EverQuest... players would come up asking for a story about themselves, so I'd request a location, a friend, and a foe, and would create a quicky tale of their valor. Always brought a smile
