Eyes of Eylor

Not sure I spelled it right, but I could have sworn back when I was playing with my old group that adding an Eye of Eylor to a weapon doubled the damage the weapon could deal. I can't find where we found that though. Anyone know?

Maybe it isn't, maybe it was something else. I'm sure somewhere there was something that doubled weapon damage. Maybe it was one of the wormwood things.

correct. adding a bloodstone to a weapon will double the damage.

Yeah, too bad it can't leave Wormwood! Or maybe I should be glad as a GM that it can't leave! :-D

Yep...instead it should be in an arms dealer's showroom, behind foot-thick armor crystal, several feet tantalizingly out of reach, guarded by nano-second reflex automated blasters, and tagged with a price several times more than the the net worth of the PCs and all their current equipment.

That was my unwritten comment...fool goes through all the security measures, only to discover he's swiped a hollow plastic model...
Always good for a few laughs for the store owner, watching the external security cam tapes.

Now imagine, immediately after he got a hold of the "gun", ran straight into a bank and tried to hold it up! It would certainly be funny to see his face when he tries to fire a warning shot at the ceiling... and the reactions on the faces of the staffs in the bank.......... :D

Check the Darwin AWards and Bozo Criminals websites...the best is the guy who holds up a gunshop, with several police officers(their plainly-marked cruiser was parked at the door) and several well-armed customers inside....the sap was outnumbered, outflanked, and outgunned...

Or the two carjackers who carjacked a van in Florida...turned out the van was transporting a martial arts competition team and their instructors...who promptly rolled the two dipsticks into human pretzels and procceeded to press them into the pavement...

THose guys were nearly as lucky as the two who stole a van....an UNMARKED POLICE VAN WITH SURVEILLANCE TEAM STILL IN REAR...

And from Brazil, we have the dumbbar who held up a bus, robbed the passengers, then got off at a crowded town square, planning to disappear into the crowd...problem is, the crowd was there to celebrate 4,000 NEWLY GRADUATED AND AWARDED POLICE OFFICERS.
The police commisioner supposedly couldn't leave the podium fast enough to get the guy cuffed...

Proof that reality will always be stranger than fiction... :D

Though rubber rune swords do tighten the gap...

That is one of those mysteries that is up to the GM. As far as I knoww there is no canon data on it's location. It could always be a pocket dimension.

So far we've only see eyes up to fifty gallon drum size being harvested(or at least made available for sale)...plus perhaps a few larger ones on vehicles...nothing larger than, say a car,...IF we postulate a fully planet-sized organism, losing objects of this size, even a lot of them, would be no more substantial than a person losing a few skin cells every time we move...and the planet may not use the Eyes as primary sensory organs(or they may be vestigal organs)....plus, the Splugorth may have some magical or chemical means of 'numbing' harvest zones(possibly making the loss look like a natural disaster of some sort), then promoting regrowth in the effected area...

Whether the Eylor harvest operation is monopolized by a single Splugorth or managed by a whole consortium of them, they probably are taking very good care of their investment so as not to slay(or rouse) their golden goose.

Probably Cbbysscryth knows all about the Planet Eyelor, but given that he also uses Eyes, he's not likely to jeopardize his source/supply...this applies to either of the aforementioned scenarios of harvest management I mentioned....which gives the ruling overseer Splugorth some incredible immunity from being dissed by other Splugorth.

There are some adventures right there!
If the numbing process is magical...could the process be appliedto other species/giant living organisms?

If a chemical process, does it involve rare/hard toget components?(The PCs find a Splugorth operation mining/processing some unknown substance and try following it to find out what it's being used for...)

Otherwise known as Ablative Labor, Union of Unpaid, Unrepresented, and Underfed Unfreed, and simply Product, to the Splugorth.

Of course, if the Splugorth are 'farming' Eyelor, you can imagine the sort of 'scarecrows' they have to keep off other potential Eye-poachers...

They might have some unknown artifact that is doing that same job. You know keeping the planet eyelor sedated.

That's cruel and unusual....maybe that' the reason why we don't see EARS of Eyelor among biowizardry components...they've all exploded...

Hmmm....maybe there are other, undiscovered, living planets that grow singular populations of other organs...ears, noses, hands...
"Great, the one living planet we find all to ourselves, and it has to be Buttykk...."

Another thought...using slaves and other dispsoable Minions to harvest Eyes has the added bonus of that if any grand sentience IS behind Eyelor and taking note of who's been plucking its baby-blues, all they see for the most part are the underlings...who will be the main focus of any immune response if and when Eyelor comes raging awake...

Then we could have the Splugorth deliberately trying to manipulate conditions to produce selected mutations in a step up from just slash-and-dash harvesting(into farming), which raises the threshold for an Awakening event....
