Wormwood - Fantasy or Tech Fantasy?

How do prefer Wormwood? Do you like it as written as a Rifts extension where magic & tech combine or do you prefer it as a purely fantasy world, almost an extension of Palladium Fantasy?
Have you ever run Wormwood as a pure fantasy game?

I have no problem blending "dungeons" and technology.
I mean for me the line between fantasy (be it classic
high fantasy or even space opera) and sci-fi is drawn
by the plausibility factor... (And it is more like a rather
large, grey domain, than ta thin red line).

I like my wormwood pure fantasy. I dnot get offended if a little tech is introduced but like any transdimentional object when it breaks go bak to the symbiotes and swords.

To the inhabitants of wormwood, technology IS the "fantasy", not the magic. Leaving out the tech ruins some of the flavor of the setting, its rare, mysterious and valuable. Much like in Palladium fantasy were a magic sword is a status symbol so to is a TW-blackpowder pistol to the locals.
Just my two credits.

Yepp... Having the a bunch of goons of the Unholy sporting
Power Armor and railguns is out of question.
However a motorcycle here, a plasma rifle there would
not hurt.

I include a bit of technowizardry, especially with a sort of steampunk flavour, but high tech is rare and brought in from off world.

I like the blending because it gives it a unique feel. Amidst plate and chain armor someone has a laser rifle or a motor cycle and so on. I agree there should be no high tech manufacturing centers, just the stuff that get imported.

Look at Final Fantasy 6 or 12 for a good idea of the "tech" that would exist in Wormwood. Or failing having played either of the games mentioned, think 'Vision of Escaflowne' minus the Guymelluths
And yes..any tech would be imports and / or heavily patched together salvage jobs
Playing Wormwood as pure fantasy is just lame and defeats the purpose of the setting; a world out of phase with the rest of it's dimension, where magic trickles instead of flows, and gateways constantly dump forth either heroes or villans onto the cursed planet. Time-line, race, technology..all would be up to chance or design (depending on the D-gate).
And remember; a Gliterboy is only as good as it's ammo supply or repair material... otherwise it's just another MDC suit in a world of MDC beings MUCH stronger than it's 1D6 MDC per punch limpwristed self is

Pure fantasy... it's Palldium's version of Lord of the Rings.

I'm gonna vote for neither of the above. Wormwood as straight fantasy would be dullsville. Wormwood with Rifts-level science fiction stuff is just too damn cheesy.
Wormwood where magic is used to kick black powder weapons and primitive steam engines up to late 19th century standards, and where 20th century Earth vehicles and guns are prized commodities? That's the shizzle.
