Contradictions over the sunken mass of NJ

Unread post by Bood Samel »

The RMB says new jersey is sunk from mt. holly on south, which would leave philly a coast, but various maps in various books would contradict that. On page 17 of madhaven it shows the ruins still blocked by a portion of south jersey. Is this cannon? I ask because I would like to write up Philadelphia for the rifter.

Go with whatever is most current, which would be madhaven. One of the more creative things Palladium did was do the world information in the RUE and original main book as writtings from Erin Tarn. Why this is creative is because it gave people something to work with while still allowing for change. Writters do get things wrong and she admitted in one of the entries that some of it is based on rumor.

So if a new book comes out contradicting either of the core books, then go with the new book. Simple as that.

I see.

So without Atlantic City, south Jersey can go, too? :P

CaptRory wrote:Generally speaking: South Jersey has the Casinos, good food, great vacation spots, a lot of farmland, etc.

North Jersey has pollution, more population (giving them control of the whole state despite the BIG difference ebtween the two halves) and the tax revenues brought in by the Casinos in South Jersey.

I think most States will be like this. One (or two) big population center(s) dominating the entire State?

I mean, the States is one big piece of farmland with the occassional city, right :)

Anyhow, pop-density can be attributed to North Jersey primarily.

Was that a long time ago?

It was not a direct East/West fissure from Mt. Holly. The Majority of the coast has sunk and the low lands of south jersey are submerged. Philly would be in ruins, but it would still be there in some form or another. Look in Madhaven and the OFFICIAL material in Rifter #36 (we describe Trenton and Forts Dix etc)

According to Wiki, NJ has the highest pop density. I was mistaken.

Wyoming seems to be #49 out of 50
Thanks for the link.

That is a relief about Wyoming.

My primary experience with the States comes in near the US average.

The population density map is about what I expected.

Anyway, back the thread at hand...

I've used the pine barrens and the jersey devil before in an adventure. The pine barrens are a weird place-
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pine_Barre ... _Jersey%29

I had rifts style piney's living in multi-racial nomadic communities who were hyper polyglot, polygamous and little to no sense of self or private property. The were lazy hunter/gatherers with a propensity towards heavy drinking. This was before the barbarian OCC, so I guess now they would be barbarians, or vagabonds.
