Just a question to satisfy my own curiosity. Do any of you ever use a house rule granting your players a bonus to their initiative? I personally never liked the thought of the speed attribute not giving any type of bonus, so I use it to determine an attribute bonus to initiative, using the same number as come from Physical Prowess (strike, parry and dodge bonus). I've always thought this made sense. What do you think?

We added an Improved Initiative skill that adds +1 to Initiative every 3 levels.

Personally, I have Speed give a Dodge bonus... if you're moving that fast naturally, you're harder to hit.

I started a Perception Attribute for PF in '87- long before Palladium did their own Perception ability. Perception Attributes of 16 or higher gets a bonus to initiative. The Perception Attribute also gives the character what's called an Area Awareness percentage. This can be used to help the character to notice someone coming up on him, locating an item (penalties can be give by the GM depending on how difficult the item would be to find), etc.

It's not for everyone, but it's worked for me for about 20 years. :)

Just use the natural PP bonus for additional Initinve bonuses.
