Protocol Query

I have a dream.
Its a little dream but its mine and I cling to it.

I'm a skilled and experienced PC technician and network administrator and I'd love nothing more then to put these powers to work at the center of the Megaverse (Palladium HQ, of course). This has been in my head since I first picked up the main book about 15 years ago.

Basically, my plan at the open house this year was to hand out my resume (in PDF format on mini-cds) to anyone employed by PB who will take it. I'm not gonna make a huge deal out of it or myself, not disrupt the flow of the OH in any way (this is just a side mission of mine, the main goal is to have fun and netowork with other players/GMs).

Think my plan is resonable or would it be frowned upon (or an extreme faux pas)? The one thing I DONT want to do is irritate anyone at PB or the players/fans/attendees.

Thoughts? Preferably, Thoughts from employees?

:)

But I do know that Thom handles a lot of the Palladium computer needs, and I doubt they could afford to hire anyone to work at the offices at this time.

But stick it out there and see what happens. The worst thing they can do is say no.

In addition to Lazlo's comments, the only person you need to worry about handing your resume to is Kevin. I'm pretty sure he does all the hiring and firing for PB. :)

It will depend on how you introduce yourself I expect. Personally I dont think Palladium is hiering, but if you work it in casually during conversation you might get it to the right people.

all valid points, thanks for the input. I don't know anyone at PB personally, obviously, and frankly I wouldn't know KS by sight unless he has a name tag...

I certainly hope I wouldn't be mocked for my attempt

Given PB's brightening future (sounded upbeat in the news on their site), I'm hoping they are giving considderation to expanding their digital side. Nothing huge or radical, a well maintained business network makes a huge impact. As far as salary, my expectations are low. I have family about 45 minutes from Taylor and can stay with them until i find housing. No kids, no pets, no plants, no problem. Job Satisfaction is more important to me then money (but money is nice too :D )

The thought that "the worst they can do is say no" was my feeling as well. Nothing ventured nothing gained right? Confidence rises as I polish my PDF and ready some CDs for burning...

Sure, why not? We'll all have name tags and Kevin is very approachable (except for about 15 minutes just prior to a deadline). So, talk to Kevin or Wayne, who's a tad more knowledgeable about computer stuff.

Would that be Wayne Breaux? Again, I only know these names from books and being somewhat new to the boards I know nothing of what "side jobs" people do around the office. I only know what they are credited with in the books...

Since when does he require a swimsuit? :P

In truth, I'm creepier than Wayne, and we won't even discuss the swimsuit.
