Wormwood... underground

What's 'underground' on Wormwood? If the planet is alive, I would imagine the insides being 'organi-like', kind of fantastic voyage with swords and sorcery.

Whatever you want there to be...

although there are rumors that a massive asteroid is buried under Worldgate, stunting the growth of the city, but providing it with the metallic source to make Soulstuff. :bandit:

in the book it mentions a legend about a second world where the creators live

From what we've got, it seems like the surface, at least as far down as anyone has ever penetrated, is more or less solid. There wasn't anything in the book about tunnel networks, or strange growths or organs, or anything except shallow caves and a few man-made tunnels of limited depth.

Which of course means you can have anything you damn well feel like as long as it's deep enough, because it's uncharted territory :)

Mentioned only once in Rifts Japan (the Ghostly Katana of magic Soul Slaying is made out of it), it is a type of magic that originates from Wormwood, and involves some kind of special metal, a lot of PPE investment, and a ritutal sacrifce at the end.

In normal circumstances that might be true, but since WW is a living world it might not make as much sense.

That is what makes that place unique and fun to play in!

I haven't. It's not very high on my priority list to read for this millineum.

It's on my to-do list, right after Thundercloud Galaxy, but before my daughter starts the first grade.

just to be clear, how old is your daughter now? and which daughter -- no sneaking in a new one next year and claiming she was the one you always intended. :)

Thundercloud Galaxy I'm hoping to have done by August at the latest. Realisticly, some version of Brave New Wormwood could be sitting on Kevin's desk 365 days from then.

For the record, I have only one daughter (so far as I know, :bandit: ). Her name is Annachie and she will be 3.5 this summer. She should be starting the first grade (full time school) in about 2 years. Then I go back to my acting career and God willing, will have no time for freelance Palladium writing.

But, what's that lyric by John Lennon... life is what happens to you when you're busy making other plans... so who knows.

Sounds pretty nice! Remember Braden, if you have family things come up, family should come first! We can always wait for your material!

I could see Wormwood having very extensive tunnel networks, especially under the demon occupied cities where the world has created escape routes like an Underground Railroad for heroes to get in and innocents to escape. Of course, the demons would do all they could to find these tunnels and fill them with trouble.

wormwood would be a perfect example of the 'world echidna' from A Conan Doyles When the World Screamed, where the earth was a vast living orginism with a thin shell of rock comprising the crust.

in wormwoods case, no rock, just a very thick skin.

Ya I could see that... a few hundred feet of exterior hide, then something akin to "muscle tissue", not sure if there would be an internal skeletal structure (but see below) or maybe the outer layer is a soft exo-skeleton... Id imagine the core to be a huge brain like structure in a protective membrane floating in protoplasm that functions more or less like digestive fluid (the planet does afterall "absorb" the dead.

If the critter has an internal skeleton, maybe its the base material that becomes Soul Stuff after the ritual etc...

I personally believe it's living. Sentient. Maybe like the living planets mentioned in that one Phase world book. (Either Anvil galaxy of the Three Galaxies.)

Probably the things that hurt it! I think that the things that live in harmoony with it will probably not be harmed.

I'm trying to withstand RL. It sometime has me down a lot lately. But I'm happy to see that Braden has something in the pipes for us sometime in the future.
