Well, let's see, what the "starships of the 3 galaxies" (or
something like that) comes out.

But otherwise, a good sourcebook, detailing more
on tactics, strategies and hierarchy of the major
militaries than on toys... It has potential.

If anyone knows the the West End's "Imperial
Sourcebook" and "Rebel Alliance Sourcebook"...
WB11, CWC is also good, but deals more on
OCC's and toys than I prefer.

Starships will probably only cover the Space Faring portion of the military. A military book alone would also have to include all the ground troops.

I'd like to see a book on the ground forces that the various factions have to offer.

Ground troops are nearly useless in a Space Opera setting.

Just ask the Splugorth... what good are millions of soldiers on the ground, when I can turn them into dust from orbit?

Ground forces will usually only come into play at the end of a much longer conflict, when all the major cities have been turned into ash from 25,000 miles above. But as I said in Phase World Spacecraft: "if you're at the point of stopping enemy troops from landing on your planet, it's really all over but the screaming."

Having siad all that, there are a few, rare instances where it's men and women on the ground who are holding the front line... the Free World Council comes to mind. But there is a very specific reason that the TGE hasn't killed them all from space, as you will hopefully soon read about in the Rifter.

The only time that is true is when the enemy has no reason to want the worlds industry.

Otherwise you hit hard targets from orbit and then send ground forces to seize valuble resources.

Its like was said about Robotech Sentinels, its island hopping on a planetary scale, you bombard to soften up the defenses then send in the gropos to seize the place.
