Sell me on BTS 2?

Unread post by leonmallett »

Hi new here. That said I have been playing PB games (mainly HU/HU2, some TMNT; also own Nightbane and N&SS) for about 15+ years, but have always been in two minds about getting BTS. That said I am interested in the game so if you guys could extol the strengths and weakenesses as you see them as gamers that would be great.

In addition is there much crossover potential or problem with say HU2? Any major (or minor) compatibility issues?

Any info would be great.
HU2 fan.

Thanks guys. For those who have played both HU2 and BTS2:

Are the psychics (and attendent rules - eg ISP costs/totals) readily compatible with HU2?

Have you run games combining both? Did it work as anticipated? Any specific problems?

Is skillls selction via programs or choosing x number of skills?
HU2 fan.

The psychics adapted perfectly with HU2 and Nightbane when we played. The systems work really well in my opinion. Heck, in my current game I am GMing, the main character is a combination of HU2/PF/RIFTs and just was thrown into the Nightlands and still got her ass handed to her royally (got down to less than 5 HP twice in that RP session, the first time would have seriously died if I hadn't had saved her butt with a Snake Bird).

Skinny recommends it for the same reason I would.

I really would not worry about the lack of magic. Since everything in your Palladium game is or will become a house rule, just make up the spells yourself.

I say get the book but buy it used as it is incomplete.
If it's stupid and it works. It's not stupid

Palladium can't be given a free pass for criticism because people have a lot of emotion invested in it.

Pathfinder is good. It is not the second coming of D&D.

Surshot is absolutely right. (Kevin Seimbeda)

Used is the only way to go (with books that is)

It depends. Mostly on the quality of the book, the price and how complete it is. Some books from certain publishers I always buy brand new like Hero System books. Some like D&D and PB both used and new.

Nothing wrong with that. We both just have different tastes.

That and most things I own, I use, even books do not seem to be spared.

The closer to indestructible it is, the better. :D

Did you post in Classifieds?

I really do not mind giving others some time to buy it up.

No I haven’t posted it there. Are you interested in buying it?

Interested, yes, but I have to make sure I actually need it first - that part I am not very clear on. I should know in the next few days. In the meantime, if someone else wants to buy, go for it.

Skinny Girl wrote:For starters there's been a lot of talk about BtS-2 being an unfinished product, but it depends on your POV. The character classes and the "ISP Use" are excellent. It's a totally unique outlook as to how psionics work in the real world. The OCCs are incredible: everything from a Ghost Hunter, a Medium, to an Orindary Person. They truly scored on those aspects.

Yip.
