You've got a great set of books there to start out with.

I don't have any need/use for the GM's Guide myself (not saying it isn't worthwhile, I just don't need it), and if you are not interested in GM'ing right away you could skip that book for something else. You could probably pick up several more Adventure Books easily in its place, cost-wise.

Now a few other books you will likely want to get, are the varied Mercenary books. These are great books to get, as you can use the information in those anywhere on Rifts Earth.

The only other must have book, is D-Bee's of North America. You'll be glad you got it.

Regarding play by post, there are several options, Nexus Point has recently started them, and Nexus Nine has them as well. N9 also has a few basic articles regarding the subject you may find useful as well:

Then of course there is also Explorer's Unlimited: http://www.explorersunlimited.com/

Welcome to Palladium and Rifts!

Well feel free to join our forums there as well if you get the chance. I'm not sure what PBP games are open and available to be honest if you want to go that route, but getting a account is the first step. :)

Hope you enjoy the Northern Gun Netbook. I had a lot of fun helping to write it. If you have any questions on it send me a PM here of there at N9.

No, and there are no plans to do so currently.

If you don't mind me asking, Is there a reason why?

Well myself and the other authors all have our own and varied reasons. The biggest reason is right on N9's Main Page.

The Bionic Sourcebook is a great piece to go along with what you already have listed.

Seconded on D-Bees of North America. I'd almost get it before the Conversion Book, these days.

CB2 is not a good early book choice, imo, even though I'm a big fan of it.

Oh, I'm not sure I'd recommend the Index either...

Well, a personal North America favorite of mine is WB:10 Juicer Uprising. I think it has a lot of cool stuff and details several cities which I find useful. I second Conversion Book 1, Bionic Sourcebook for sure, but since I don't have D-Bees of NA, I can't speak to that (I've heard good things though).

Oh and welcome to the best RPG in the entire Megaverse! ENJOY! :ok:

Also seconded.

@ NulSyn,
I have visited the Nexus forums a couple of times, but I have not found the forum section that lists current pbp games going on. Do I need to register at those forums in order to view/access a different section? Thanks.

The Online Gaming section is now up and running.

You pretty much have all the essential books.

In addition to those books, I recommend RIFTS Conversion book (sort of the monster manual to RIFTS), Psyscape (offers new psionics, psionic related OCCs and RCCs), Juicer Uprising (expands on the Juicer class), and RIFTS mecenaries (if interested in running a mercenary type game).

- This is what I have currently ordered:
    Rifts® Adventure Sourcebook One: Chi-Town 'Burbs™
    Rifts® Adventure Guide™
    Rifts® Book of Magic™
    Rifts® Game Master Guide™
    Rifts® Ultimate Edition™
    Rifts® Sourcebook One™ - Revised and Expanded
    Rifts® Index & Adventures Vol. 2
    Rifts® Chaos Earth™

Not a bad list.
I'd suggest you get Creatures of Chaos as well, and Vampire Kingdoms.
If you plan on using the Xiticix often, then Xiticix Invasion is also good.

I suggest you avoid New West, Spirit West, and Canada.
At least for the time being.
Focus on the books you have for a while, especially RUE and the Rifts Adventure Guide.
