~ Sword Bearers / Mystic Weapons

Would you mind becoming either a Sword Bearer (Nightbane), or Mystic Weapon Weilder (HU2) ??
Which one do you like better ??

They are almost just alike in many ways. Just different settings, and a slight different powers/abilties to suit the setting. But the same basic concept...

...You find/have a Magic Weapon/Item/Armor or whatever. It grants you special Powers.

Kinda like Marvel Thor, Thunderstrike, Black Knight, Images Witchblade, and so on...

I'd say most of the powers / effects of either are too showy for the BtS settings.

Look for more subdued abilities that, although useful, are not going to threaten a reality in which 99.99% of the population doesn't know the supernatural is real.

Speaking of which, what can GhostSpider do? What about Karlash?
As seen in Rifter 20

Was informed that "Recommending the destruction of a third of the nation is not appropriate."

GS can die in a fire!

Just kidding.

I'll have to see how the walk about is going as I haven't read Lazlo since early in the Summer.

I've always been a fan of the whole sword bearer genre. Ever since I was a little kid watching He-Man. Or reading about King Aurthor and Excalibur. I was always more interested in the weapon than the person though. Later, it was what drew me into D&D and eventually other roleplaying games.

I think there are ways to make it work in BtS. Especially with how things are scaled now. Up against regular folks it's regular, perhaps a little sharper and better balanced then most. And then as your opponents become more powerful on the supernatural scale, the weapon gains abilities and power.

And there's lots of adventure potential, having players quest for a weapon that is needed to defeat a particular opponent. And once that opponent is defeated (for now?), the weapon becomes dormant again. Perhaps even looking like a rusty, ill-kept relic.
I was raised to beleive if you can't say something nice about a person, say nothing at all. This has led to living a very quiet life.
