Dominators need rewrite

Unread post by csbioborg »

The Dominators are suppose to be the ultimate enemy of the Cosmo knights. They are powerful and have the hiighest tech in Phase world but that about all that is said about them. They make good NPCs but I they need a least as much fleshing out as the genesplicers and stealers. HOw do they reproduce if they are solitary? I always thought they should have psionics beyond the defenseive ones they posses. Maybe some inkingly of where they come from and a home world should be introduced. Dominators aren't supernaturally evil so there should be some more motivation behind the Cosmo Knight animosity. I've bounced around a idea that the dominator's are trying to save their people These dominators were stranded and they are trying to find there way back home. D jumping dosen't work if you don't know where the dimension you are going to is. The cosmo knights desroyed the dominator base becasue they were doing potenially deadly experimentations. Since there are only a handful of dominators in the three galaxies. Since then they have decided to split up so that the cosmo knight cannot interfere again.
They are in a race against time to find a cure or weapon to a plague or Ai that is ravaging thier people. They conduct brutal experiments becasue it is a race against the clock to save thier people while at the same time find thier way home. They were almost succesful when the cosmo knights destroyed thier base and since then have held a animosity towards the whole order. This could even tie into them trying to gain the power of the cosmic forge to go home and save thier people. Basically a large group of aberrant rougue scholars in a desperate race to save thier people by any means neccesary even if it means fighting every last cosmo knight kreegor and alien intellligence in the three glaxies.

Dominators would make for a nice 48 page source book. That being said I think Braden may have done some stuff on them in his books but I can't remember if I heard that from him or if I'm just not remembering correctly.

Sounds like you have a passion for them csbioborg. Sure would make a cool article for a Rifter submission?

Well you've hit on a topic that many PA fans would like to see more info on and the Rafter is the perfect medium to give it a try. Plus different stuff like the Dominators will stick out when Wayne Smith looks through the piles. At least that's my opinion.

I think that would be a great idea! I second it Carl! I'd buy that article about Dominators.
"Your Grace," she said, "I have only one question. Do you wish this man crippled or dead?"

"My Lady," the protector of Grayson told his Champion, "I do not wish him to leave this chamber alive."

"As you will it, your Grace."

I object on behalf of my master Lord Brynncryth.

They are powerful and have the hiighest tech in Phase world but that about all that is said about them.

Nope. I mean they are not really powerfull tech-wise.

A handgun causing d4*100 MD? Sounds creepy.

But it is a handgun for a 10 ton gun?! Probably weighting around
100 kg - ie the weight of 10 NE plasma rifles - its weight/damage
ratio isn't that high...

But maybe it is just the usual Palladium achilles-heel of
"big bad things do not have the stats to back them".

They make good NPCs but I they need a least as much fleshing out as the genesplicers and stealers. HOw do they reproduce if they are solitary?

Are they? Or the ones we encounter are the survivors of an epic
war, bitter and vengefu individuals?

I always thought they should have psionics beyond the defenseive ones they posses. Maybe some inkingly of where they come from and a home world should be introduced.

Their homeworld was destroyed. Lucky for the galaxy, they seemed
to have only one...

Basically a large group of aberrant rougue scholars in a
desperate race to save thier people by any means neccesary even
if it means fighting every last cosmo knight kreegor and alien
intellligence in the three glaxies.

Sound good to me... I mean take a bunch of survivors, in a
galaxy populated by "minute beings" (compared to them).

Most of them entertain themselves with revenge, and similar
things.

But what if others try to rebuild? No power of the 3 Galaxies
will let them...

But we could use some more information on them. It would help to flesh them out.

I for one would greatly appreciat any and all fleshing out of at LEAST thier world size starships . Bare minnimum .. :P Other then that I say that the way they are NPC'ed in my games Thier Extreamly powerfull an when ever one is encountered Mass violence and mass killings ensue viciously.... Some caused by then and some caused by others trying to STOP them . That is just how I see them . I would also like to see perhaps some glimmer of thier old sociaty . Just my 2 cp's worth .

I agree. I would definately like to know a lot more about them and their technology!

Gotta love the Rafter! It's for those outdoorsy Palladium gamers! :-P

I agree with Carl that csbioborg is onto something very cool. I like the idea of "redeeming" the Dominators and I think you have some great tragic plotlines there. You have created are reason for PCs to become involved non-violently with a Dominator. Way to go! Definitely write up an article!

I have been toying with a Rifter submission that focusses on a single Dominator - who is very naughty, completely sane and extra vengeful - who has taken a few hundred years to put a plan in motion that will scatter and decimate Cosmo-Knights across the galaxies...along with whole populations. But mine is in the earliest planning stages with a projected completion date of "before 2010 ends" so don't let me slow you down!

More information concerning the Dominators will be appearing in the upcoming Fleets of the Three Galaxies. Included is a bit about thier history, why they do what they do, and stats for their Star Fortresses.

I think a Dominator world-ship should show up over Earth, vape the orbital colonies and Arkhons, lay waste to every major city on-planet, then leave with a hold-full of slaves.

Nope, probably a Dominator would kick out Lord Splynn,
tell the Proseks - and some other people - to behave or...

And then rule the planet until further notice. And people
would worship him. And there was rejoice.. :fool:

Seriously: they aren't called "dominators" for nothing.
IMO they have a habit of taking over worlds, and probably
are good at it.

Braden, I'll be happy to see your addition on them too. Of course I can't wait to see more information from both of you on the Dominators! They need to be more fleshed out.

Dominators would be a good source book to do next along with a big section on droids and new space ships.

Braden is including them in his sourcebook. It'll be cool to hear from him if and when he can post a tease for that project.

That would be the logical herald. But of course why would he be there unless it was to stop his partner from eating the energy from inhabited worlds.
