Telemechanic possession is a different ability than Telemechanics.
The scenario that you have proposed would only be able to be utilized useing the Psionic power of ..
Telemechanic Paralysis - Momentarily prevents if from functioning .
or
Telemechanic Possession - only if the machine fails its saving throw will you be able to manipulate it in any way .
