We've had this discussion many times on the boards and determined that no forcefield overlap.
Recovery? Only for the rich and 20 counties.

IMO, if it is possible at all then first the "normal" FF is depleted (taking full
damage), then his body armor (damage reduced by 90%).
As for technobabble goes, phase fields are removing the subject
from this 3dimensional space (totally or partially), but as force fields
are already extending into this multidimensional space, they are
not affected by this effect - on the other hand, force fields do
interfere with (=stop) phase beams.
However, I would say, having both systems installed, tuned so they
do not interfere, having a doubled "power system"... Most of the time
it would be way more cost effective to use a light PA, with phase fields.
Adios

But still, one of the most basic rules for survival on any planet is never to upset someone wearing black leather - This is why protesters against the wearing of animal skins by humans unaccountably fail to throw their paint over Hell's Angels.

Follow your GM instinct.
I would rule that the direction of the force field (radiating outwards from the body armour into which it si installed) would scramble the effects of a Phase Field layered overtop of it... we already know that FF and Phase powers don't compliment each other, so it's not such a wild rationale.
Give him 50 EXP for a clever but futile idea, and move on.

If that doesn't prompt you to buy it, I don't know what else I can say.
