I've SORTA had something like this in the background of my Rifts campaign, but never really expanded on it beyond "..and in the year before the great cataclysm, a fleet of several experimental long-range vessels left the shipyards of new-Polyjarni outbound for the Centauri system... What happend to the diaspora fleet is unknown."
Glad to see that I'm not the only one who figured humanity saw the writing on the wall and went outbound.

Great stuff El Magico! Thank you for those pointers Gadrin. I've never actually had anything but the basic version of it. I've only been adequat with it.
This is something I normally do with my ships. The thing is that I'd like to do is to keep the communications seperate from the main computer. So that the computer can be isolated from exterior computer attacks.

That is the reason I always loved them The carrier is a wonderful design and sooo practical for launching large numbers of fighters in very few minutes.

That is cool that you include a mission specialist for the destroyer. Are they capable of maintaining several missions at once? Or do they have change gear and personel between missions? Can they move from mission to mission without stopping? Sorry I'm just curious after reading the last couple of post.
