TW steam engine

TW Steam engine:
a TW firebox attached to a boiler. inside the firebox the chain of spells generates wood, ignites it, boosts the flame, and provides sufficent oxygen to keep it burning. the heat from the firebox causes the water in the boiler to boil, releasing steam which is pushed by steam pressure through a pair of triple expansion pistons, which provide motive force. the steam is then routed through the TW condenser comprised of a ventalated box with spiral tubing runnign through it, where the freezing tempratures created by the Wave of Frost spell cause the steam to turn back to water. the smoke from the TW firebox is vented out the TW smokestack, which is built with a Cleanse spell feature to meet Hope City enviromental ordinances. PPE for these components is supplied by an array of Emeralds mounted in a box on the boiler.
Cost: 400,000 credits.
Base PPE cost: 390
PPE activation cost: 20
Gems required: 10 carats of Emerald, 4 Carat White Pearl, 1.5 Carat Garnet, 1.5 carat Amber, 1 Carat each of Ruby Quartz, Smoky Quartz, and clear Zircon.
performance: 100 PPE provides sufficent energy for 5 hours of activity.
Spells required: Create wood, Breathe without air, ignite fire, Fuel Flame, Wave of Frost, Cleanse
-----------------------
as far as i can tell by the math this is all correct, but it's really annoying that it came out at 400,000 credits. and most of that is gems! those emeralds were expensive, as is the white pearl (i used a larger pearl in the cleanse smokestack to reduce PPE requirements, but wound up adding 20,000cr!)
and i fudged the duration on how long it would run. after all that, i didn't want to have it run for only a few minutes!
one advantage over the TK engine this has (about the only one ) is that in theory if you run out of PPE, you could stop, open a valve in the condenser to convert it to a open cycle steam setup, and run it on regular wood! albiet at much lower performance. you'd have to stop and refill the boiler frequently that way though.
if any one has idea's on how to do this idea simpler and cheaper under the TW device creation rules, please let me know. this is a nifty device, but sorta too expensive to be a good alternative to the TK-engine...(though it can be made by a lower level TW than the Tk-Engine, the TW steam engine uses only Lv3 spells... and basic mechanical parts.)
