Which IIRC, is supposed to be the fastest FTl speed possible using Contra-gravitic drives..

phase drives have the same limits (more or less).

Fold Drives able to take you multiple light years in the span of minutes exist in the 3 galaxies, but are highly dangerous to use since they tend to be inaccurate, not always dropping you off where you wanted to go.

Fastest FTL would be the Phase World spacegate jump drive, which has effectively infinite speed, but only goes to Phase World.

I think thers a speed limit for the FTL depending on what Power source of the ship.
I say High speed need M/AM,s.

Maybe ther needs to be rules about the speed allowed by different power source.
ther also the resources the race needs to make that power source.

This way it makes a tech gap,showing the different between races,who have been only in space for some years and others who have been for centuries.
Like B5 or Enterprise.

There can be a big difference between having a power source and being able to use it efficiently. Also, what drive type you are using is at least as important as what power source. For example, a basic fusion drive is a reaction system that (in ramjet form), never runs out of reaction mass in most parts of the universe. How fast you can accelerate depends on 2 factors...how fast you can accelerate the particles leaving the ship and how much stress you can take.

Realisticly there is no speed limit in sublight travel except the friction from intersteller matter, what they really should define is the acceleration in gravities, but that tends to complicate things. Thus, they settled for a less realistic and more easily handled system.

the Spinneret can hit mach 20 in space, mach 10 in an atmosphere, and has a sweet folded space drive able to jump it 100 ly in an instant. (of course, being folded space, it doesn't actually cover that distance itself, so it is debateable if that is technically "faster" than CG drive...)

not bad for what is essentually a space going go-kart frame...

My DMB3 lists the Fire Eater as M10 in space.

As a side note, DMB2 mentions, that CG drives can be pushed to the limit,
for triple normal speed, with some risks.

Well, a shifter can open a Rift "manually" from one side of the Corkscrew
to the farthest part of the Anvil in like a few minutes...

But as far as true starships are concerned, a combined Rift drive
and CG/Phase drive equipped ship is probably the winner in the
"most light years in a day" contest.
