OH '09 YouTube Video

Any enterprising gamer with a vidcam out there plan on catching some Open House action on video?

YouTube is a HUGE tool that Palladium Books should be taking advantage of to gain more exposure.

The more folks who help out in this regard, the better.

~Not sure if the intesity of a roleplaying game can be caught on video

This is a great idea. You do not want to just send live feed. You want an edited montage of the highlights of the Open House. That would be a great thing for Palladium to have done as a promo. If a fan could make that happen, that would rock. There is no doubt that YouTube is a great marketing option.

Amen, brother!

Nimmy...NIMMY! Draw some attention to this thread either among the players or those slackers like Jason Marker at Palladium Books. Especially Marker, tell him he can use his time at Open House using his skill behind the lens shooting video instead of sicking vicious thugs like Reelman on defenseless BTS paramedics.

For the sake of a five minute promo, you can force yourselves to behave. But there will be cake.

Looks like I've gotten some people thinking about the possibilities.

GOOD.

Palladium Books needs more and wider exposure.

Us near-fanatical Palladium fans can't support the company indefinitely all by ourselves, we have to showcase Palladium's great products and ourselves (the near-fanatical fan-base of the Palladium line) in order to spread the word about all the great things coming out of Palladium and the great fun of roleplaying in general. Bringing new gamers and bringing back prodigal Palladium fans into the fold is the only way Palladium is gonna prosper in the long run.

Tools that reach broad audiences (MySpace, YouTube, etc.) are all incredibly cost-effective ways in which we can spread Palladium's good news.

..I've still got some random footage from the first Open House around here somewhere... Maybe some sort of montage is in order....

Two thoughts on this. One, you don't need to catch the intensity; show the people laughing and having a good time - that would create curiosity. Two, Jason Marker. At Gen Con, his energetic GMing during his BtS game had a guy at another table ready to surrender.

Very true! I remember the dude throwing up his hands in surrender behind Reelman!

Said random footage has now made it to my laptop for me to rip and reformat and soon post.

I just have to figure out how to bleep out a portion of Carmen Bellaire's talking. :)

So, who all owns video cameras?

It'd probably be wise to have multiple videocams available and/or running.

I should have a full digital video camera by con time actually, and I plan to shoot most of it. To be honest, I probably won't be doing much, if any, gaming, so it shouldn't be a problem. :)

Heh, you mean most of it, LOL!

Alot of that footage is from the big move; probably ought to post some of it so open house vets don't get lost...

Chello!

There are all kind of things you can do. For instance:

Or maybe something like Randomguy does (btw, checkout his DC vs. MArvel stuff):

Just a thought or two....

This is the camera I'm thinking on. Either this or a DVD Cam.

Well, I'm just glad I brought this idea up!

I'm really looking forward to seeing a bunch of us Palladium players promoting our system (and friends) of choice on YouTube.
