Discorporation for other Palladium monsters

I got a mesg from a party that I will keep anonymous since they sent it privately, but it’s a question worthy of a new topic.

The question basically “How do you handle discorporation for monster that exists in other Palladium games? For example, you mentioned that you use Nightbane beasts in a pinch, but how do you figure out their threat level and Discorporation?”

While the threat level process is more of a “interpretation” process where I encourage you to read up on the “Many Faces of Evil” section of in the BTS book (Pg 228) and the “Supernatural Enemy” Section (page 15-17) and compare which one fits the monster you’d like to use the closest (there are other processes you can use, that’s only one example).

For discorporation, when I don’t have something more specific of don’t find anything in the monsters description that inspires me to create a specific discorporation, I have a “catch all” discorporation description I use for other Palladium monsters. And because I love you peeps and it’s the holiday season, I’m presenting you my catch all note below.

Discorporation: When slain, the (insert creatures name here) body immediately begins to liquefy into a primordial soup of base elements. If examined this soup contains various elements of biological life such as hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, calcium, phosphorus, carbon and so on. Besides the bizarre nature of the soup itself, there will be nothing unusual about its contents.

Soup anyone?

Generally, I wing it.

My favorite such example is for the Firethorn Demon from Chaos Earth. I have it discorporate as:

Discorporation: When slain the demon breaks down into 3D6x10 exceptionally bright fireflies which spiral off irradicately into different directions. The insects disappear as if they were never there within 60 seconds.

NICE! Do all the Chaos Earth beasts have discorporating rules? I dont own the book, but I may have to reconsider :)

None of them do whatsoever (IIRC, Creatures of Chaos came out before BTS-2).

The one found above was one I made up for my own BTS-2 campaign.

depends on the critter and its home for me...
for nightbane and the nightlords and minions I use the the "classic" dissolves into wisps of shadow.
for others it could be insects, pile of ash, pool of blood, etc...

I like the wisps of smokes imagery as well.

I made a creature once where I described their discorporation in fairly good detail along the lines of "A steaming, wet, pulpy carpet of gore"...I almost made my squeamish player sick
