Holy cow Duck-foot! That is so very detailed and very cool to read. Are you sure you don't want to write a novel based on this outline you've given us. Please keep it coming!

"Trouble rather the Tiger in his Lair,

For all the Empires and Kingdoms,
The Armies and Works that you hold Dear,
Are to him but the Playthings of the Moment,
To be turned over with the Flick of a Finger,
And the Turning of a Page"

A team of British secret agents escaped Nazi Germany with copies for V1 and V2 Rockets before the invason of the allies.
The US capture the Rocket scientists and the USSR fond some Rocket parts.
thers a 3 way space race.
Over time all 3 gets men into orbit,by the 1970s the US and UK get to the Moon.
The 1980s each have a space shuttle.
The USSR give up on Space and go down in 1990.
After this The UK and US Negotiate a secret deal where each would reorganize the others clams to future space territory and Share tech,so they will be the only Nations in space.
they made space station by 2007.

That is a very cool idea Gaby! That would make for a very spy intensive game. I guess N&SS would be loving that one. Just imagine how changed the world would be if you follow your line of thought out to when the Rifts occur. It would be a serious make over for the present Rifts earth.

The THird Reich establishes a secret moon base...the advanced state of German rocketry does little to save them from collapse, but the more advanced rocket tech that falls into Soviet and Allied hands, as well as the shocking revelation of a Nazi presence on the Moon, spurs a space race that puts Man on the moon by 1950...and a clash between Astronauts, Cosmonauts, and surviving Reichnauts...

Don't underestimate the power and value of disgruntled slaves to outnumbered forces...If not for the number of disgruntled and fearful subject tribes that wanted to get even on the Aztec, Cortez's little band of adventurers wouldn't have survived to bring down an empire(and build one up in the process)....

The Spanish INfluenza Epidemic of 1918 blooms into a full-scale pandemic thanks to inadequate containment measures, and it proves far more devastating, sweeping the armies in Europe and the already vulernable civilian population....In America, the civil government is devastated, and martial law is declared, followed by the military effectively taking control of the government... IN Russia, the Russian army is devastated, the Communists step up, and they in turn get demolished as well by the pandemic...Drastic measures follow, and the flue is stopped, but the lingering effects include a military-run and militant America that has become extremely isolationist, a Europe that has fallen back to regional factions dividing the larger countries, and a Russia divided between the European West, where the Communists and Czarists are engaged in a slow-motion civil war crippled by their decline in numbers, and the Far East, which has cut its ties(as well as the Trans-Siberian Railroad) from the devastated west...Meanwhile, China and Japan eye Siberia, but missionaries in Indochina are warning of another pandemic festering in the region....

That is a cool one. Although I know that flu didn't become what they mean when they say pandemic, it did kill something like 20,000,000 people.

While historically, the Muslim advance into Europe stalled at Vienna, what if they hadn't petered out in Iberia, but successfully advanced beyond Cordoba, and established a stronger foothold in Spain, turning the western end of the Mediterranean into a Muslim Gibralter? Despite multiple alliances thrown together by the Pope and the Italian states, Libyan fleets seize Corsica and Sardinia as naval bases, and Spanish resistance is ground awy as the famous El-Cid is killed before he makes an impact...Rather than fall apart, the Jihad makes its way into Southern France, gaining a foothold on both the Atlantic and Mediterranean sides. Beleagured Tuscany and northern French territories sue for alliances wirth proto-Holland and the Germanic states....Faced with a much stronger threat from the Muslims, the Italian States and the Pope, feeling surrounded, declare several new crusades, but agree to excuse and be lenient with some of their European allies...While the occupation of Spain negates the later rise fo the strong Spanish royal lines that would turn the region into a Church-aligned superpower, and in turn the financial squeeze for paying for the near-constant combat in France, puts undue pressure on the Germanic peasantry, leading to a succession of revolts and conditions of unrest even greater than that that promoted the spread of Lutheranism later on in the standard time line.

I’d had a ‘Zombie World’ scenario with two major characters on my mind, but with Rifter #40 and Josh Hilden’s and Joshua Sanford’s ‘Dead Reign’ world, it was PERFECT for them....
So consider this a remora-rider or a splinter-universe of ‘Dead Reign’...
Brulyx’s end-run has not not gone unnoticed by other forces in the Megaverse...although the Old Gods who orginally locked Brulyx out are either gone or occupied with more pressing matters(Brulyx was regarded by them as a minor irritant at best), at least one ‘New God’ has become aware of the events unfolding on Dead Reign Earth...Veranama Sathor, an alien goddess, has noticed and discerned most of the plot, and feels moved to act. However, as a minor goddess of a rather underpowered pantheon, her resources are scant and already overstretched dealing with other matters, so she’s been forced to improvize and delegate. Though the seals on the planet were designed to keep Brulyx out, they also make it difficult for other magical beings, such as Sathor, to directly interfere in matters. The rise of magic and the powering up of the planetary leylines heartens Sathor that a rebirth of magic may help the survivors of the Unisane debacle fend off Brulyx’s minions, but she fears it may come too little, too late. She’s taken advantage of the occasional and regular spike in leyline nexus activity to punch through dimensional gates and slip in the odd magic weapon or item, but her two biggest plans are rather non-magical.
The first was the hijacking of a large Naruni Enterprises shipment of weapons meant for the Golgan Republik and its crashlanding somewhere on Earth. Kaz-Khan 717 is an elite Repo-Bot who came back to awareness in North America, with no recollection of what happened in his short-term memory...His last recorded memory-log was that he was aboard an NE heavy freighter, escorting a routine shipment of equipment and then....He came to in a ruined city surrounded by hordes of shambling undead. The megadamage Repo-Bot easily shot his way out of the zombie army, and has been roaming the land ever since, trying to find clues to what happened and why he came here....He occasionally picks up signals, so he knows the ship he was on is somewhere out on the planet, though where and in what condition it is in, he doesn’t know. He’d like to find the ship, his fellow Repo-Bots, and gain access to the ship, its armaments, repair parts for himself(after constant use, some of his weapons are showing wear and tear), and ideally get back in communication with Naruni Enterprises....Kaz-Khan 717 senses that this world could be a potential customer, and has enough leeway in his programming that should he find his ship, he’ll see fit to distribute the weaponry to the needy local human survivors...He’s also promoting Naruni in his own way by saving people, offering tactical advice, and assisting the local resistance...However, should he get back in touch with his superiors, he’ll also insist that when the zombie-crisis is over, the survivors WILL pay for the ‘loaned’ weaponry at whatever terms his superiors dictate.
In the meantime, Kaz-Khan 717 has become something of a wandering legend to the people of North America, an unstoppable armored figure who comes out of nowhere, obliterating the undead, saving people, and fighting back the darkness. Some people believe him to be a secret government experiment or operative unleashed to fight the zombie plague...Others have confused him with a popular video-game super-warrior, and assume he’s some sort of alien super warrior come to save the planet(and that the zombies are thus the result of an alien invasion). Kaz-Khan has become a near-mythical figure to the beleagured people of Earth, and the name associated with him, Naruni Enterprises, has begun to resonate with people....Especially if Kaz-Khan 717 ever manages to make available his ship’s load of weapons, robots, drones, armor, and explosives to the people of Earth for a decisive blow against the Benford Group.
While the possibility of this particular Earth becoming in debt to the rapacious mercantile princes of Naruni Enterprises has occured to Sathor, she feels that being in hock to alien arms merchants is a better deal than being sacrificed to a would-be demonic godling. In the short term, the infusion of high-tech alien hardware will bolster the living resistance, though in the long term, it may require some adjustment to avoid future problems.
Sathor’s OTHER plan is more long-term; her helpers have been able to abduct random humans from the beleagured world and turn them over to the tender mercies of an alien genetic engineer that owed Sathor some favors. The bio-geneticist has converted the humans into -Vultures-...psi-stalker-like human predators, immune to the Z-Virus, with an appettite for well-aged dead flesh. The proccess is not without side-effects, such as amnesia for the recipient, and a decidedly UNcharismatic overall attitude. Thus the altered humans who are returned to their world have no idea of who they were, how they came to be, and start out with only the most basic skills necessary to keep them alive....Often times, they believe themselves to be unique and alone in their abilities....It comes as a shock when they discover others like themselves...
Sathor’s biogeneticist ally hopes that her masterpieces will unite and propogate across the planet, winnowing down the walking undead. Sathor is not entirely pleased with the idea of altering innocents without their consent, grieves for the emotional suffering many of them suffer from their amnesia and subsequent sense of alienation, and wishes her ally could have found some less demeaning process, but she has to console herself that the transformed may well be the fortunate ones...They at least have a fighting chance...
In the meantime, these necrovorious human predators are starting to become legends themselves. Reports of ‘cannibals’ and ‘wildmen’ have begun to spread, and USAF recon aircraft out of the Alaska Freehold have managed to get several good aerial photos of a gang of giant cleaver-wielding , motorcycle-riding, neo-savages riding from town to town along the California coast, wiping out zombies and eating them.
Sathor has also heard rumors of another new form of undead...flesh-golem-like beings called ‘stitchers’ who appear to be animated and possibly sentient assemblages of human parts...She knows she has nothing to do with these beings, so she wonders if they are some new permutation of Brulyx’s plague, or if some other fourth party has gotten involved. Again, however, her ability to gather intelligence on Reign of Dead Earth is limited, so it may be some time before she gets definative answers...
Working on Stats for the Vultures, but only have a few ideas for the capabilities and nature of the Stitchers...
So consider this a remora-rider or a splinter-universe of ‘Dead Reign’...

Reign of Dead is already being advertized in the Rifter as a purely SDC realm, but the already emergent AU has the intro of MD weaponry....of course, a freighterload of plasma cartridges can only slay so many zombies before the supply runs out....And can the vultures hold their own against demonic hunters?

Alternate Earth:
The Roman Empire plays host to a rather unusual delegation; aliens from a disabled colonizer that has been forced down on Earth while in transit elsewhere....After the Emperor (Caligula) tries to have the unusual-looking beings thrown to the bears, one of his more astute and open-minded generals conspires with the aliens to stage a coup...In return for advanced communications and medical technology(the aliens aren't pick on weaponry), the Roman general, now Emperor, extends full Citizenship to his new allies, renewing the empire, and establishing a strong, more open, and vibrant society.....Religious freedom becomes the norm in the Empire, and nascent Christianity, without persecution to consolidate and drive it, becomes merely another Meditterranean sect. The Germanic tribes cause trouble, but the lure of better health and luxury sways enough to the Roman banner to keep the worst of the clans from invading Roman lands...Eventually, acting on the orbital surveys made by the aliens as they came in, the next-generation Roman-Tavians begin a burst of exploration in the new ships made possible by advancements in metallurgy and technology....
In the alternative, one could have a splinter-group of dimensional clone of the peoples of the Unity(see the Shrakken, Micra, Ajemnin, and Rhona in the Alien Races thread) come through a Dimensional Gate, after exodusing from the Zone States, bearing with them the trappings and makings of a high tech society, and the weapons and warriors to defend it....
The Germanic tribes cause trouble, but the lure of better health and luxury sways enough to the Roman banner to keep the worst of the clans from invading Roman lands...Eventually, acting on the orbital surveys made by the aliens as they came in, the next-generation Roman-Tavians begin a burst of exploration in the new ships made possible by advancements in metallurgy and technology....

the CCW have made cloaked bases.
Unfortunately, what we get is a rogue CCW captain who figures("Hey! No more of this goody-two-shoes CCW crud! WE're going to be warlords! KNEEL, you little dirt-grubbers, or start counting off cities!")it's better to go into business for himself...

LOL Maybe some of the smaller groups within the CCW. Say on the very fringe.

Or just the crew that barely passed Psych...They were assigned to a 'quiet' sector where the ship, a dumping ground for disciplinary cases, would be 'out of trouble', figuring nothing much would happen in that sector for them to adversely affect....

Here is part two.
The CCW,s ships explore and discover that 60% of the inhabited planets in a zone of 25 ly,have not started a Industial age,the other 40 still limited to ther home systems.
the CCW have taking over unhabited Planets, the CCW wanted Resource assets who locations are unknown to the TGE and the Other Power blocs of the 3 Galaxies, the FAR and TMC who border the zome have made a not-interfere trety but both also have agents in it.
I am planing to have the CCW meet the Two.

How about a world were every person was blindly following the demands of their religion in all aspects of their life. There is no arguments against the major religions from their believers. (i.e. that is no Luther, no Calvin, no heresy from Henry the VIII.) (Imgaine what sort of scary world that would be.)

Heart of Darkness...Required reading for anyone who wants to appreciate colonialism in Africa, the Belgian Congo, 'Apocalypse Now', and John Malkovitch(who played a truly scary Kurtz)...

Oh ok. I still haven't read it. Although I did read Sable. That was a great book by Mike Grell.

*Belgium's destruction of the Congo goes farther and in return, along with all the ivory and rubber brought out, Leopold's African fiefdom gives Europe the HIV virus...much sooner than in our own timeline...at a time when disease theory and study is still in its relative infancy....

"World War 1 saw the successful harnessing of the incredible power of the atom by war's end in the form of the Curie-Holtzmann Furnace....World War 2 would be fought with massive machines powered by these potent new powersources....German PanzerMencsch would trample the European continent, seemingly unstoppable until the British got their Colussus factories up to full production, and American-made 'Bunyans'...THe various Minutemen, Liberators, and Strider armours that would wade ashore on D-Day...The Japanese, imaginative and innovative, but handicapped by their lower tech base, achieved momentary success with theri own series of Grand Shoguns and Steel Samurai, particularly in China, but the Russian Illya Muromets colossi out of Vladivostok bases threatened to trample the length of the Japanese home islands, once the Soviet military-industrial complex got moving in ernest..."

After eighteen years of warfare, Hannibal succeeds in breaking the Roman Republic, with his slaughter of the Roman legions, and a stunningly successful defense against Scipio's invasion of Tunisia......Rather than fading into the sands of time after the Romans annihilate them in the Third Punic War, the ancient empire of Carthage continues on for many more years...celebrating the Sack of Rome in proper Carthegenian style...with child sacrifices....After controlling the western Meditterranean, Carthage turns its eyes to the East and the weakened Egyptian and Greek powers...

Yep..we don't hear or know much about Carthage except through Roman accounts...so thorough was the Roman devastation of Carthage, which had been a major power while Rome was still a grubbing little Republic...

I know. Makes me wonder just how long Carthage would have survived if Rome had fallen. I don't think they would have lasted as long as Rome.
