While just dreaming about reacing the success of the
Starship Designs topic, but why not start one, where we
can describe the various gadgets from the Three Galaxies.
Metal psray, nanotech multi tool, the bushido
vibroblade/energy puistol/palmtop transformable stuff...
I bet everyone have one or two of them in your sandbag.

The Escort
While it is usual for an Uteni salesman to be accompanied
by a Repo-bot, with a built in notebook and a few compartments,
or an Altess Noble to have a piece of cubst artwork to suddenly
reveal itself as a deadly part butler, part bodyguard (and
sometimes part time assassin) R-Cube, the recent, only a few
decades old rage of "escorts" clearly originates from the
CCW-TGE War.
The Human Alliance, deploying the famous Trabant corvette
vessel, needed to raise funds (as well as boost citisens' morale)
so they begun to market a small model of the named ship -
as a childs toy, but with a twist - the small ugly boxes followed
their little owner like a puppy. Besides being a propagande
hit, the profit from their sale directly went to the financing of
those escort ships. Their price was between 60 and 150 credits.
Billions were sold.
After the war, a designer in personal electronics watched his son
playing with the little ship, and begun to wonder, what could be
done - and so the first, sleek black "Escort" , floating personal
(cellular) communicator was born, being the indispesable
accessory of the time.
Since then countless reincarnations were born (and are
designed or market as you read this), ranging from simple
communicators, throught expensive models with built in translator
(also equipped with a holographic projector, and camera, so
it can translate facial expressions and body language too)
to self propelled luggages. On the highest end, there are
(usually illegal) armed models.

Nano-Salt---A crystalline substance that is sprinkled on any suspect foodstuff you want to consume but aren't certain about...the 'salt' is actually nanobots programmed with the particulars of your biology, and formatted for molecular sampling and analysis...If it detects dangerous toxins, the nanobots turn a glowing red(95% efficiency)....Otherwise they remain inert and are perfectly tasteless and safe to consume. They are less adept at identifying bacteria(70%).
Cost: 300 credits per ounce of nano-salt(good for 12 applications)

Nanotissue---Looks like innocuous tissue paper but it's really a matrix of fine buckyball plastic impregnated with filtration chemicals and nano-neutralizers...Slap a sheet of this stuff across your face and it sticks, forming a light gas mask/air filter that blocks out inhalant toxins, smoke, and irritants...good for 45 minutes of unimpaired breathing.
Cost: 100 credits for a handy envelope of 10 tissues
Note: Does not block skin-absorption toxins
Best used in conjunction with Op-Pop Eye Shields...These look like oversized contact lenses that are simply placed over the eyes..Special adhesives and 'skin-velcro' edging anchor them in place, protecting the eyes from irritant gases, smoke, and flying debris...Polarized versions are also available. Disposable
Cost: 10 credits a pair. Corrective lenses are also available for more, but the OPES can fit under most glasses and over contact lenses, so why bother?

T'Zee built stuff:
Field Cook:
Most militaries have field rations. They keep the soldier
alive, but as a Megaversal rule, they are somewhat
disgusting.
This handy box (containing a good deal of nanites) not just
warms the soldiers' food, but makes a steak and potatoes
from that brown puree (or whatever it was originally... Even
what the manufacturer lied about it).
As an added service, it rebuilds packing as a disposable plate.
Runs on E-clips, one short E-clip is good for about 2-3000 serving.
Costs around 3000 credits.
------------------------------------------
Field kitchen:
The big brother of the "Field cook", this backpack sized nanofurnace
creates edible stuff from most organic material which happens to
be around. Toxic fungi, dead bodies, wood... All SDC material
goes.
Just beware, if your sergeant catches you with the "whisky on rocks"
programme...
Runs on its nuclear power source, has a reactor life of five years
(or about 10-15 million servings). Aviable from half a million credits.

Very nice KLM! I can see them doing that sort of a project. I think it would be quite widespread thru out the CAF and the associated IDF's.

Slider Tabs---The modern answer to caster-wheel coasters. Rough the size and thickness of a modern electronic organizer, the Slider-Tab uses electronic fields to generate a short-range molecular repulsion field along one surface(the downward-facing one) only a few microns thick, making for a virually frictionless interface with the ground...Can support about 300 lbs, and you can use more than one to place on the underside of large loads and slide them nearlt effortlessly across a floor or other reasonably smooth surface...A favorite of city rats and kids who attach them to boards and even shoes for land-skating...Charged by holding them near an induction plate...15 minutes of recharge equals 2 hours of repulsion.

RK, Robotic Cube
(Altess Dynasty)
This is an AI driven, "universal purpose" robot. It is made of
3 by 3 by 3 cubes, each is about a cubic foot (29 cm). At least
it can take the form of a magic cube when - for example -
stored. The 27 modules are connected to each other via
nanotech, rather quickly, and even they do not need to
be contacted side-by-side, spherical joint can be formed.
According to the situation, the RK can be a 10 meter "snake",
a 3 sq meter "carpet" or even a 1 meter diameter "sphere"
(as a makeshift safety pod, but life support is lacking, to say so.
Air is good for about 15 minutes if it was fresh to begin with).
The cubical modules are specialised:
- 8 are specialised for sensory functions and data processing
- 4 are (fusion) reactors
- 3 are shield generators (50 MD each)
- 3 are multi-function nanotech storage (like the multi-tool, in DMB2,
it tipically spawns appendages, ending in a manipulator or melee weapon)
- 2 micro-missile pods (48 micromissiles per pod)
- 2 laser modules, variable frequency and power up to 4d6 MD (or even
a d6*10 MD triple pulse),
- 1 shield breaker module. It is not the "hole in the field" device used
on the Silverhawks, but can emit a pulse doing d4*100 MD on force
fields (3d6*10 MD on magical barriers), once per two melees.
Each module can withstand about 40 MD, and can even repair
up to 20 MDC, at a rate of d6/melee. If there are ample spare
parts (most high-tech enviroment is qualifies as such, especially
if the RK is on sabotage mission) it can - of course - totally rebuild
itself, even rebuilding totally destroyed modules (provided there are
at least 3 "processor" and one nano module... and power, either
from a reactor module or from the electrical grid).
If this is not possible, the internal nanotech simply breaks modules
down to fine dust.
Also, if the unit (according to the analysis of the AI) is doomed,
it can choose between the silent "dust-to-dust" solution, or a
spectacular firework doing 5d6*100 MD in a 20m radius
(this damage supposes that all 4 reactor and the full missile
payload is still aviable). The weight of the RK (with CG off)
is about 300 kg.
Combat: 8 actions per melee, automatic dodge if enough space
is aviable (10+ meters), +3 to initiative, +6 to strike, +8 to strike
with melee weapons from the multitool appendages, +6 to strike
with the built-in ranged weapons, +4 to strike with picked up
modern weapons. +8 to dodge, or +10 to dodge if flying,
+6 to roll with impact, +6 to pull punch, +5 to dogfight.
It moves by CG hover system, speed is up to 3M in atmosphere
(if in "snake" or rather "javelin" configuration), or 12M in space.
Its sensory system is roughly equal to standard PA systems,
and capable for EW and jamming.
applicable skills:
Computer hacking 80%, computer operation 96%, read sensory equipment: 90%, weapon systems 90%, pilot (small starship, starfighter and spaceship) 80%, pilot CG pack 95%, demolition and dem. disposal 70%, EVA 96%, Paramedic 90% (altess/human phisiology) and other 4
repair/mechanical skills best fitted for its tasks.
The AI is a hybrid neural-optic system, which - although capable
to learn some thing - ensures that its basic values are unchangeable.
It has the rough equivalent of an IQ 12, and views the world much
like a samurai. Its honor and loyalty is for the Dynasty. Period.
Together with any job on a starship, it is a very polite and courteous
flunkey, and never ever falls to foreign hands.
They are rather inventive, it happened a few times, that a damaged
RK - playing dead - as soon as was connected to the diagnostic
systems, overrode the laboratory, then the whole spacecraft,
with special attention on airlocks and safety door.
Might be aviable as player character, with GM's approval and in
special campaigns.

Nano-Messenger---The ultimate flatscreen...looks like ordinary paper that can be writted on, but can be set to respond to specific DNA sequences in the hands of whoever is holding it or tapped sequences of figures in the text, whereupon the wriiting re-arranges itself to reveal a hidden message...tapping the paper again or tearing it destroys the secret message, scrambling the nano-dots.

Microskin---An ultra-thin layer of nanotech-impregnated plastic film that is completely transparent and lays next to the skin, under clothing...It is only visible at the mouth, eyes, and other body opennings where a soapbubble-like film is visible...Typically worn with nose filter plugs to create an environmental seal against most toxic gases, pathogens, and infections. The person can still take in food and drink via straw(the microfilm will reseal after the straw penetrates/is withdrawn...so be careful around needles) and allows liquids and solids to pass OUT without serious breach of the seal....The coating lasts only for 96 hours before needing to be re-applied, and is not designed for rough activity(more than 3d6 SDC of damage will irrepairably tear the film). Applied by sprayer(best to remove all clothing when applying). Used for biological protection against casual infection, and as a last resort under more durable hazmat gear...Alsoa favorite of espionage agents deploying biological weapons.
Cost: 400 credits per application.

It is a very cool creation! I could see the CDC using it anytime. I could see those researchers working with birdflu utilizing it. It is an awesome creation.
Oh yeah, no finger prints either.

Or - just to be funny - someone else's fingerprints.
Also, we played the idea of a nanotech "second skin" worn
under armor, greatly extending pilot durability by keeping
his skin clean (and a few electrodes to keep rarely used
muscles in shape).

Nanomizer---The cutting edge diet aide! ONe pill after overindulgence and let our micro-liposuctors go to work moving that excess fat out of your system, breaking it down for flushing out of the body! Lose 5+1d6 lbs easy in 12 hours!
Cost: 80 credits a pill
Side Effects: Besides the sudden need to excrete, Nanomizers have the added problem that long term abuse of them results in too much HEALTHY fat being removed, resulting in a slow starving and malnutrition of the user...Worse yet, chugging handfuls of them(four or more of them within a 12 hour period) in an attempt to lose lots of weight at once can result in internal bleeding, catastrophically low blood pressure, and dangerous dehydration...Nanomizers are best used under the care/monitoring of a competent physician, and in conjunction with diet and exercise.

Nanomizers are best used not as an "after event pill", but part of
a biomonitor system - effectively a juicer system ,without the
crude injector harness, and optimised for health and longevity.
There must be some reasons for that two centuries lifespan
of humans in the CCW Utopias... Not to mention the Altess.

Neuroelectrical biomonitor system:
This is the coupling of MoM and neural interface technologies,
but not taken to the extreme as on RIFTS Earth. It consist
a cell phone sized pocket central unit and several thumbnail
sized paper-thin probes attached to the skin on key locations
(ie. it is a non-invasive augmentation).
Besides monitoring the body, it mildly stimulates nerve centres
and internal (hormone) glands, as well as a few muscles, to
make the recipient fitt, and healthy.
Neuroelectrical combat computer:
The same technology as above, also the most basic form
of the powered armor technology. In addition of the above,
the system consists several subroutines which make the
recipient more alert, agile, and even a bit stronger, as
well as enhancing hand-eye coordination, sense of balance
and so on. Best use in conjuntion with optical enhancements
(cybernetical or add-ons, like glasses, contatc lenses, etc),
audio systems, and of course smartgun technology.
It is less capable in overall performance than Powered Armors,
or MoM conversions, on the other hand, it is a subtle and
non-invasive enhancement, with minimal side effects.

BodyLoc Biomonitor Tag
The next step up from the Home Arrest Monitoring Bracelet, it's a subcutaneous microchip system installed under the skin(typically near the spine or important blood vessels, so as to discourage casual removal)...Besides providing a contant transponder locator for the authorities, it can also be used to minitor a felon's blood chemistry to enforce probation terms and rehab performance...telling if the wearer has ingested drugs or alcohol in violation of their sentencing agreements...If removed the chips give out a violent electronic 'sqwuak' alerting authorities of the transgression.
Some worlds use these extensively for 'walking sentence' criminals and minor offenders...others severely restrict their use...Others use a more benign version as part of rehabilitation and substance abuse control programs.
The most notorious users, of course, add micro-explosives to the tags..

Another variant of a "personal locator" is a nanotech solution
injected into the bloodstream (most species have something like
that), carried all over to body, and then attach themselves
into a convenient, yet "out-of-sight" location, so transfusion
would not remove them.
Not before their internal timer runs out or they are "ordered"
to leave - in this case they leave the body and decompose.

Body Langauge Scanner---Not everybody has the time or opportunity to study the nuances of another species' body language and facial expressions...This semi-AI add-on to a video-equipped handphone or mini-optic uses facial recognition technology to study a viewed target's body language and compares it against a database of known mannerisms for that species, then feds its observations to a text screem HUD implant, or audio implant. If indepth data on the specific individual scanned is available, a more accurate determination and analysis of body language nuances is possible.
A basic one-species program, in a handy palm-cellphone is available for 800- 1,000 credits, and has a 50% chance of correct interpretation. More advanced databases are available for correspondingly more...
Note that some species will strenuously object to being overtly scanned by such devices and some find it outright insulting....

Holo-Censor----Creates a zone of about 15 ft in which explosed 'unmentionables'(as pre-specified in the computer banks and scanned by a multi-optic tower) are tastefully blurred or blocked out. Usually used at swimming holes and awards ceremonies to prevent 'protest streakers'.

Nazene ForesOpto-Floater
Manufactured by the Nazene people for law enforcement forensic teams, this baseball-sized recording drone can be set loose into a crime scene(especially a room) before detectives actually set foot inside. Floating on its own micro-antigravs and slowly moving about under electrotatic and airjet propulsion, the FOF crystalline multi-facetted shell begins a full and comprehensive mapping via holocams, lasers, and sonics, noting positions of objects and producing full detail (with resolution down to a a few skin platlets' width in size) scans that can later be scrutinized by search programs and forensic analysts...Has enough onboard memory for scanning up to five average-sized rooms(about the size of a standard human apartment), but most probes have a wireless download link to a suitcase-sized memory pack or police vehicle mainframe. Large crimscenes often see deployment of five or more FOFs to gather data before the site becomes contaiminated by police and other workers.

That is a cool device. We seen similiar things on various movies and TV shows. Thank you for putting it to the keyboard. Just one thing. How much MDC would it have?

I'd give it a low MDC...like maybe 2-4 MDC(if even that)...forensic cams really aren't meant for going into live conflict zones(it's assumed the shooting and killing has already stopped). If the police suspect a possible bomb or boobytrap, they send in chem-sniffer and bomb detector drones after their handheld scanners have flagged a possible threat beforehand.

Zimper-Baas H-7 ‘Hippocrates’ Med-Bot
#’BenD OveR and CouGh, PleasE. YOu MaY ExperiENCE SomE DiscomforT.#
The ‘Hippocrates’ Medical Bot is an older medical robot that was mass-produced during the glory days of the Golgan Republik. Originally known under a variety of different names when it first became available to the market, it was eventually tagged with the name ‘Hippocrates’ by Human subjects of the Republik, and the name stuck . Developed by the Golgan robotics firm of Zimper-Baas, the Hippocrates was designed as a low-cost, multi-purpose, modular medical robot that could be configured to serve a variety of specific medical needs and species, or act as a generalist. In one of the few ‘altruistic’ gestures of the Golgan Republik towards its conquered satrapies, the Hippocrates was often handed out as ‘gifts’ to newly conquered worlds as a cheap form of advanced-tech healthcare reform, to salve the wounds(literally) of subject populations impoverished by the economic declines associated with conquest, or maimed by more violent takeover.
The ZB-H is a tall, ungainly-looking machine with a squat, turret-like main torso carried atop two long, multi-sectioned legs. The upper portion of the head/torso is adorned with service connections, plug-in ports, and retractable turrets for a variety of sensors, illumination sources, and accessory appendages. Mounted on either side of the torso-turret are two long heavy-duty arms that hang all the way down to just above the ‘bot’s ankles. These arms have large tool and cargo bays on the shoulder hardpoints, and broad forearm modules for a variety of tools and instruments. Just between the ‘bot’s large upper torso and pelvis is a rotating auxiliary instrument tray and tool-arm thorax, that can be fitted with a variety of precision armatures, tentacles, and medical gear. The robot’s pelvis is of variable width, being able to close in to facilitate a faster gait, or can move apart for greater stability, and to allow the robot to straddle an injured being or gurney-stretcher. The legs end in variable shape pads that can be configured for narrow feet allowing for fast movement in close quarters, or into broad circular soles for stability and quiet movement. The H-7 is built with light megadamage alloys and ceramics for a sturdy frame that can take plenty of slips, falls, crashes, and forays into hostile environments, though the H-7 cannot stand up to weapons fire. The robot’s systems are modular at multiple points, allowing the robot to be refitted for a variety fo roles and specializations, and its program-matrix shows a similar flexibility.
Depending on the sophistication of the programming, the H-7 can serve quite adequately as a basic nurse, diagnostician, or emergency medical technician. Rumors persist that some wealthy owners were able to buy advanced cogitation matrices that allowed the robots to perform equivalent to fully certified doctors, but Zimper-Baas and the Golgan Council Scientifik both issued warnings against using AI systems as primary care-givers. However, many buyers do exactly that, leading to a library’s worth of cautionary tales.
The Hippocrates has been a mixed success overall. Though the original designs suffered from a certain lack of expertise on the part of the programmers in xeno-medicine, resulting in an inordinate number of misdiagnosises and even fatalities from treatment, later models proved quite profficient in their roles. Another strike against the Hippocrates was its decidedly intimidating appearance; long legged and top-heavy, and topping at over seven feet tall, the bots loomed over potential patients, evoking fears of a topple-over, despite their proven stability. The lack of any aesthic efforts to ‘humanize’ the robots in appearance or personality led to them acquiring reputations for ‘bad bedside manner’. Though the robots were meant in most cases to assist organic medical personnel, several much-publicized cases arose of the robots being used as primary caregivers, with less than satisfactory results(including several nursing homes that were discovered to be using bargain-market Hippocrates units as nurses). Finally, despite the popular name, the robots were Golgan-made, illicting a certain amount of dislike on that alone.
Unfortunately, the H-7 also earned the nickname ‘Hypocrite’ when it was learned that the robots could be easily programmed with more aggressive programming and skill-sets . Originally meant only for special applications in restraining mental patients and in servicing maximum security prisons, these skill programs and variants branched out in aggression to include torture and combat. When the barely disguised derivate AH-8 Soldier Drone and AAH-11 Daggerman began appearing on Golgan military equipment lists, there was an immediate backlash against Zimper-Baas. The company was forced to undergo several years of very public hearings and audits by the Golgan Politik, and the soldier- and assassin-robot lines were closed down (though it was rumored that ZB simply moved production elsewhere under secret government contract). However, sales suffered amidst rumors of ‘secret killer programming’ in innocuous medical robots, and ZB’s quarterlies took a nosedive for several decades before they were able to regain public trust.
As the Republik ceased expanding, and then began to contract, the Hippocrates was one of the few Golgan designs that was retained by many of the secessionist worlds. Though several centuries old, the design is regarded as reliable. With a few exceptions, the Hippocrates H-series is accepted throughout Golgan-influenced space, though a few independent worlds have done away with them and all other traces of the former overlords. The former Golgan mental institute world of Bakalapona has outlawed the machines in their space, as the Golgans deployed thousands of the robots to keep the Bakalaponans’ ancestors under control in their wards.
Today, the H-7 is still very common throughout Golgan space, and sales continue to be steady, although the design has begun losing ground to more modern designs like the CCW-based Silverheart Automatan’s Life-Helper and Kadobe Robon’s Al-Med. Though Zimper-Baas bowed out of the picture over a century ago, large remainer stocks continued to be sold off, and new H-7s are produced by two Golgan firms (Mogo Cogwis and FabriqikeTechnnoda Golganski), and several former Golgan states---including the Zyganian Empire, the Central Alliance, and the robot world of Mekanik. Sales of the H-7 have spread even beyond the Anvil Galaxy, with H-7s appearing on the market in the other two galaxies. A recent industry rumor has it that Hartigal Combine is developing a knockoff of the H-7 for sale as a combat-medic unit.
The H-7 still continues to have a checkered history, though; being an old model, the wiring and technology of the H-7 is well-known, and the programming schematics can be easily had on the black market and planetary internets. Quite a few harmless pranks have been pulled with H-7s, and quite a few dangerous crimes; the Durza Gang on Solismur, under the cover of being a home medical assistance contractor, programmed the H-7s it rented out to homeboard patients to case and rob the homes of its clients. Misprogrammed H-7s have also been implicated in a number of assassinations and murders. The most puzzling and ominous crime involving H-7s was the ambush and abduction of over 500 perfectly healthy young sophonts in the Gamero Sector...apparently after being lured to the physicians’ offices after normal business hours. Signs of aberrant programming were found in the office medbots’ matrices, but no sign of who did the programming and to what end....Nor have any of the missing people been seen again. While suspects in the immediate locales of the abductions have been cleared, the search continues for who is behind what appears to be a conspiracy...Slavers, organized crime, even aliens like the Intruders have been suspected. The involvement of the H-7s as a common factor in the disappearances alone caused a sector-wide moritorium on the ‘bots and a mass-scan of all H-7s employed in the sector for suspicious software, as well as calls for greater mandatory anti-tampering measures to be installed on medical AIs.

That is an awesome piece of very useful gear! Thank you for sharing it!

That is true! I've got to find my muse. It's been lost for a time.
