Article Away!

Grz'nak ripped off his foe's cyclopean helmet, taking the head and part of the spine with it. With a shout of grotesquely child-like glee, he turned to his next opponent, beating its helmet with the one he held in his hand. He was rewarded with two... no, three... blasts from the puny hand rifles these humans carried, a vibro-blade in the belly, and some fool pounding on him with mace. Throwing the corpse of his first opponent at the annoyances with the rifles, he ripped out the vibro-blade, spattering the idiot with the mace with Grz'nak's own gore before plunging it to the hilt in the human's puny head.

Grz'nak was outnumbered, armed only with his own manic viciousness and he corpses of his opponents. He was bleeding from several wounds, and ominously not bleeding where several chunks of his flesh had been excised by combat lasers.

He was also having the time of his life.

Brodkil are the foot-soldiers of the demon hordes of Europe. Forming a loose coalition of bands, they've claimed much of the former CzechRepublic and southern Poland for themselves; in North America, they raid across the continent, only willing to be bribed into working for a master who can fulfill their lust for blood and violence, ill-gotten gains and mindless brutality. They do, however, have minds, primitive and blood-soaked though they may be, and they have a society of their own... one suited to their monstrous appetites, and which springs naturally from their unnatural origins.

From that snippet, it sounds awesome!
- If I never hear real world military buffs complaining about Rifts weapons technology again it'll be too soon
- Rifts isn't Warhammer 40K. Try to remember that.

It could be useful, and you certainly got to the point quickly (which is good). What is the proportion of descriptive text to crunch?

I have always liked Brodkil, even if I do not agree with the idea of them using bionics. It seems to break the rules, and being able to turn invisible looks to me like a better thing than a few mechanical parts. I wish they could take OCCs, a Brodkil Robot Slammer would be loads of fun.

I addressed this in the article; why brodkil love bionics.

As for fluff to crunch ratio, I always find that a little hard to gauge when OCCs are involved... they're so text-light compared to their line-counts that they seem to be a lot bigger than they are.

Almost no one builds robots or power armor for giants, so a Brodkill Slammer wouldn't be very practical without some new robot designs to accompany it. A single O.C.C. or R.C.C. with different M.O.S. packages would be much more useful. This was one of my criticisms of Naruni Wave 2. The cybernetics angle doesn't bother me because that is what makes the Brodkil unique (or at least it did until bad guys started handing out bionics to gargoyles, deamonix, etc). It is sort of cheating, but not as much as the Mechanoids being full conversion borgs with psionics. I wonder if Gremlins are mentioned as being the cyberdocs of Brodkil society; that was always how I imagined these two species working together.

Anyway, I'll be looking forward to the article.

I see your point about the power armor, but a Brodkil would have less need for it, already possessing Supernatural PS and MDC flesh. Despite statements to that effect, I never think of the Mechanoids as cyborgs, but instead as power armor pilots who have grown overly dependent on their power armor.

And the paperwork got sent in on Tuesday. Press release lists it as being in #46; might be 47, depending on space.
