Western Empire Cover Character

Unread post by GMDijarian »

I was wondering if anyone knew who has the (Elf I guess?) character on the cover of the Western Empire book. I think I remember reading years ago in some book the answer to this, but it surely eludes me now. Also, is it just me or does he have a revolver on his hip in a holster? Does that obviously mean he is from/or has traveled to other worlds/times. I may be making this up, but I may remember in that passage that I think I read that he may have been a defiler?

Ok so maybe I'm making all this up (which I may be), but can anyone help me on this subject?

Thanks

I always figured it for Itomas, as well.

But if I recall correctly, Itomas is human where as the person on the cover of the Western Empire Book is elven?

I've always assumed it was a elven janissary.

He doesn't look elven. His ears MIGHT be pointed, but they're not blatantly so.

I always took it for an Imperial Janissary too, and never really thought it looked elven. But hey, who says I pay that much attention? My wife certainly doesn't!

I never took him for Itomas or a janissary.

Perhaps he is Sir Thomas Ironwolf of the Ironwolf Province. But that is one of my PC's so probably not. :crane:

I think it is a random picture painted for any fantasy setting that looked quite good and doesnt not fit in to the western empire setting. :bandit:

Mr Kite wrote:Even before I knew where the painting came from I never thought it was emperor Itomas or a Janissary. Itomas is described as having red hair and would be (in my opinion) dressed in armour far more grand than what the guy on the cover is wearing.
The guys armour doesn't seem to fit that of a janissary either.

I dunno, for a long time I felt the guy looked Elven as well. Probably because of the high cheek bones, eye shape, and slender build.
Still, it COULD be an elf since we can't really tell if the ears are pointed or not due to the hair.

I agree. It could be an elf... but it's not sporting the kind of ears that make you say "Yep, get a rope."

And I never noticed that Itomas is described as having red hair. I tend to gloss over those things.

Wait, are you saying he's a good pitcher, or that he gives up a lot of hits? :crane:

Yeah, it's not a specific person, just a neat picture with lots of ...uh... mood.

brom does some nice work and I think it was produced when his name was still popular. It could be just a marketing idea. It is a nice peice of art!
