Question about Dead Reign fiction

You are on your own. The Army is MIA and our government is gone! There are no communications of any kind. Cities and towns have gone dark, and zombies fill the streets. The dead have risen and it would seem to be the end of the world. Help me, Mommy!

Question about Dead Reign fiction

Unread post by DtMK »

I wanted to talk to the people here and get some input. I think my interest in Dead Reign and its incarnations is pretty well known, I cosplay my character created for it at conventions. I've had an idea for a fan fiction for a while, and time notwithstanding, I'd like to eventually write it. I wanted to show my thoughts on the Dead Reign RPG with it being survival horror, but also with a nod to the Joshes and having some surprise supernatural elements in it, as well as some pieces from other settings in Palladium Books. It'll also have appearances by my character The Reckoner. I wanted to take the familiar setting of the zombie apocalypse while putting my own spin on things.

My question is, should I just write it up and place it her or another website to be appreciated for free? Or should I go for the gusto and try submitting it once finished as an unsolicited manuscript for The Rifter? The thing is I want the story to be appreciated by the fans and give back to the game system I love, but also wondering about getting some compensation, maybe even getting my written work in print. So what do you think? Should I write up my story with Palladium's work in mind and share it for free? Or should I try to become published?

Greetings!
I think that you should find out if you can give it out for free if PB decides NOT to publish! If PB does not mind allowing you to web-post it for free, if they will not, or cannot Publish your manuscript, then submit it to the Rifter! If PB doesn't like to allow writers to web-post submitions that were rejected, then just web-post it, or you stand a chance of it never seeing the light of day.

I hope you do try to submit it. (though i would love to see a personal copy as you have had good ideas in the past and would like to read one of your stories. ;) ) Gared already basically summed up the rest of my opinion.

All in All Good Luck in your ventures! :ok:

Thanks guys, I've been getting responses here and on another location where I asked the same question, right now I'm leaning towards writing it for fun and posting it online for free. A shame though, I saw a great Nightbane story in Rifter #11 that I thought this would fit in the same vein of it. It'd be nice to see it in print, but maybe I should just have fun with it.
