Changeling shapeshifter? You know, the advanced changelings from one of the other books or a Rifter (can't recall any titles)

Best I can say is no... Sense Evil is primarilly targetted against supernatural evil, such as Demons, Deevils, Gods, Dragons, etc. Basically, it's used to check for the heavy hitters. GM's can allow for lesser levels of Evil to be sensed as well, ie Sorsorers, necromancers and other powerful evil beings, but I believe the primary focus is on finding the really big bad guys.
*edit* Nice work on the critter there, too. true enough on your reasoning behind him, too. Never saw anything that says a vampire has to look/be human. Brings back memories of a Wolfen I had that got cursed with Lycanthropy. A Wolfen Werewolf! Who'd know?

At least he wouldn't have the social disgrace of being a Wolfen Werecat! Man that would be odd for him.
Nice branching out with the Vampire, I love any time someone uses anything in non-stereotypical fashion. Or to defy stereotype mid stride (i.e develop something in a stereotype then curve ball it). I think Orc Vampire covers the former pretty well. Also, Vampires on a boat is a cool concept. It's like the worst situation for them (can't go anywhere, true death and pain any time it rains which is all the time), I may have to steal this idea for a different setting (like Nightbane where I can have nice massive ships and do a mini-survival game in the travel time of the game).

Since when are GM's fair? Chrips I recall the last ship encounter a group of mine had. Think sank because they where transporting an artifact that created basically a mini-black hole whenever it came in contact with magic. All they where given was a vague 'don't use magic near it' as a warning. So what happens when the ship gets sacked for said artifact? Guy hired to transport it risks it all by having an Elemental Minion Wind Rush near it. Half of the ship stops existing, instantly starts sinking, and about 30% of their minions (only 3 players, each has developed a crew of underlings) where instantly killed. By good luck the other player (unaware of the happenings) was fighting at the front of the ship, the third had no interest in the job and traveled by foot.
Some unfinished vampire in the middle of the sea is totally fair game for returns! You're far kinder then I am to your players, even after you decapitated one of them with little warning!

Oh, that poor Scholar? No, no, no. That was an NPC. I make sure my players have NPC's for just such drama. The Natural 20 was just a bonus.Though I told myself ahead of time the Vamp would go for whom ever was carrying the torch first. The Ranger also got gutted a short time later and the Squire and soldier took some hits as well.
Awwww, way to take the wind from under my wings. Still, instilling the fear of god into players even through NPC death is good.

I think what he means is that a Wild Vampire isn't a big enough thing to send off the Evil-dar.

Actually, Sense Evil should work against Vampires. Way back in 1st ed PFRPG, Vampires were classified as Demons and are still considered powerful supernatural beings which would be sensed by the power. The powerful evil beings it doesn't really work against are more of the mortal bent, such as necromancers and evil wizards and the like. Basically, if it's a supernatural evil creature, it works. If it's just an evil mortal, it doesn't.

relicandcheese wrote:The way I understand the whole sense evil thing is that you can sense evil in someone with a present evil intent, but you have to activate it. For big ole' nasties, like Vamp. Intel., it fires automatically. So a vampire is a part of that intelligence... but not the intelligence itself... is that enough to set it off?
Thanks for sharing that scenario, Overkill!
And here's your toasted blueberry bagel with butter...
Yes it is. Doesn't matter if it's a master or a wild vampire, Sense Evil will make you aware of it.

Well, Vampire was my initial guess but don't vampires take a lot of damage from water? I haven't looked at that section in a while but I thought water was quite dangerous to them.

Clean moving water. Most dislike non-harmful water though, things like vapor won't. Rain will, but things like sewage water, swamp waters are a bit more up in the air.

And that's how you use vampires.

For my campaign I was thinking of doing vampire Wolfen/Zombies. How would I make them work? Any help would be nice.

Re: An encounter my group won't soon forget.
By making Vampire Wolfen or Zombie Wolfen? Take wolfen stats, sprinkle on abilities of given baddy sub-type, done?

That could work, tack on an extra D4 P.S. or something and away we go!
Thanks for the idea
