Robotech Movie Forum Casting

Unread post by 13eowulf »

Since this thread brought up the subject of casting for a potential Live Action Robotech film, rather than hijack that thread I figured I would start a new one. While we are at it why not cast all 3 eras, and the Shadow Chronicles.

Scarlett Johannsen

Rick Hunter --- an unknown...... Then fanboys won't have someone to obsess over until it goes live.

Roy Fokker -- Leonardo DiCaprio....... Age fits him and he has played stern or carefree characters before.

Ben Dunn - Chris Hemsworth

Maximillian Sterling - Tatum Channing.... He can play a geek and a warrior.

Lin Minmay.......... Meghan Fox........ It's just eye candy.

Lisa Hayes....... Eliza Cuthbert

Claudia Grant........ Halle Berry.........

Breetai --- CGI-------- then voiced by James Earl Jones.

Exedore - CGI --- Then voiced by ---------------

Captain Gloval ------ Tommy Lee Jones or Gary Oldman

Much as I wouldn't mind looking at Meghan Fox, I think she'd have a bit of trouble playing a 16 year old Chinese/Japanese idol.

My thought for Minmay would be Miyuu Sawai or Keiko Kitagawa

Maybe but Walken is kind of old now for Khyron. Maybe if any era/age actor goes then yeah Walken from the 1980's

I guess there is one big thing we need to clear out if we are discussing casting - will we remain true to Rick and Minmei being teenagers instead of adults?

That has a huge impact on who plays what.

Hmm. I would hope teens, but will most likely be portrayed as older.

But hey, this is Fan-Casting, so why not cast for both options?

I based my choices on them being teens.

I suspect if the movie were done, there'd be the teenage macross island scene, but the main action of the movie would happen with them both grown up - the hero of the movie being a child soldier might not be too politically correct.

a good Author could do wonders comparing Gloval to Bush 43 or Joseph Goebbels with his war-propaganda he fed the survivors on the SDF-1, and his blood-lust for battle that lead to the murder of so many people in Quebec quadrant... if it wasn't for his ruthless blood lust, the Earth may have survived the Zentradi's appearance in our solar system... that being said...

Jürgen Prochnow as Gloval is perfect to me... he plays a great bad guy, and can fake a decent russian accent...
Jolene Blalock as Myriya, she plays an Alien perfectly.

Michael Ironside as Leonard, can play the Hard-arse perfectly, and is unlikeable, just like Leonard.

i'd guess that the 'teenaged hero' thing would end up like the transformers films.. twenty somethings acting stupid while pretending to be ten years younger than they are.

I'm sure Luke Perry and the rest of the cast of 90210 would be willing to play teenagers again...
