I felt that Zombieland was a fairly good documentary, one can learn a great deal of survival tactics from watching it.

Re: Zombieland
I saw it last Sunday. That movie was hilarious.
Re: Zombieland
I thought it was a wonderful dark comedy in a fun and familiar setting. I give it an 8 out of 10 and declare the movie 'Reckoner Approved'!

Re: Zombieland
This movies started the Demon/Devil War! Demons claimed they made the film but Devils say otherwise.Who else has the trickery to fool masses of humans into thinking it was a good movie lmao. Never saw a zombie, just people infected with some kind of "Mad Cow" like they said in the movie. No one is seen dieing & reanimating. Only laughed when that skinny kid dumped the pop corn when talking to the little girl that should've been starved to death. 2/5 stars
Re: Zombieland
I thought the movie was...underwhelming.
It had its moments, but they were few and far between.

I'm a little late to the party on this one, but I ordered and recieved the Zombieland blu-ray on Friday. Saw the movie Saturday morning. This has to be the single greatest zombie movie ever made. Nothing against Mr. Romero, but this movie ruled.
Thank God for rednecks!

Re: Zombieland
I saw it a few months ago. Good movie. Funny, but nothing I could really take serious.
Did learn a couple things though. For some ideas for DR, try the Resident Evil movies, including Degeneration. Then of course Dawn of the Dead and Land of the Dead are good.
For books, Zombie Survival Guide, and World War Z by Max Brooks.
For games, check out Left 4 Dead, and Left 4 Dead 2, and Killing Floor, and in Cod5: World at War, you might get sime ideas from Nact Der Untoten and the other nazi zombie special levels (unlockable).
Always remember: The resource-to-kill ratio is your friend.

God, you just reminded me of some yahoo on another forum I used to visit that was 100% convinced that the Zombie Survival Guide was made for use against actual zombie attacks. He even tried using the fact that there is a Solanum virus as evidence (there is, but it affects tubers, ie- potatoes).
I do believe I've been to that site, if you doubted the guide you were just a troll.
I never liked that zombie guide, it wasn't really thought out as well as apparently alot of people think.

What forums were these? Might be different ones. I have since stopped going to the site I found that thread on for basically what amounts to inequitable suspension and banning practices.
Anyways, the zombie guide was well thought-out, but the author had to basically create a zombie mythos to work from, which detracted from other book research he might have done.
Don't recall the site was hoping yours was the same one so I could get a name and place it on the do not go websites list I have.
Badly thought up means for starters anyone who thinks beating zombies in the head with a heavy blunt object like a crowbar when the virus can be transferred through fluid contact means somebody didn't think that out at all.
That tactic may work for well in Dead Reign but it is not a good tactic for his Zombie mythos unless you want to become a zombie.
World war Z was bad enough as military weapons and hardware weren't researched they were just added in with what ever effect he wanted.
Some people may like his zombie books, I think they are rubbish.

Re: Zombieland
Doesn't matter if the blood is congealed, if the infection via fluid transference stops at that point the zombies are no longer a real risk to infect anyone else at that point now are they.
Thus ending the zombie viral threat after awhile.
See it just doesn't add up with his mythos.

Blood congeals, but is still dangerous. While it may become thick and not prone to spatter, it is still wet, though it behaves more like thick, dirty motor oil (not entirely accurate but it's the closest comparison), so it will tend to stick together. It doesn't take too long for blood in the body to semi-solidify like this and become thickened due to lack of motion via circulation. It takes a long time for blood in the body (and the body itself) to dry out completely. Environmental factors vary the time this takes greatly.
You also have to consider the zombies' mouths. Many (not all but many) with have at least semi-moist mouths for whatever reason (humid environment, just got done eating, was recently submerged, etc) and the bites are still a big threat, since this is their primary mode of attack. The viral threat is very real in this regard as well.
You do have a point about late-stage zombies not being a big threat in this regard, but they still have a drive to kill people and that is what it amounts to. The zombies have (for unknown reasons) a drive to kill and consume the living or very recently dead.
In the end, it is a book about survival and no survival guide on anything has ever advocated a stance of "assumed safety". It is always what is called "reasonable risk". The author specifically states that close combat should be avoided whenever possible for a number of reasons, but that certain things are your best choice when dealing with close combat.
I think his mythos stands up well, but it does suffer from a lack of explanation in certain areas.
Don't think should stray too much off topic.
He claims the best weapon is the crowbar, how crushing the skull and getting that stuff everywhere sounds like a good idea I'll never understand.
There is still too much fluid in the head for the blunt trauma method to be a wise legitimate tactic, it will work for Dead Reign but not any zombie mythos like he has created.
Even with the blood congealed you are still getting a big mess everywhere and you can still get infected.
Claiming that the undead can surprise you by just being quiet behind the door is incredible did everyone loose their sense of smell?
No mention of the absolute stink that even a one day old body will have.
If you think you won't stink you still need to consider the contents of the upper and lower intestines as well as the rotting contents of the stomach and since the digestive system remains dormant that is going to do nothing but sit there and you'll be smelling it through the skin in no time and it's nasty, bugs will be smelling that as well and thus you will find them crawling in places you'd rather not think about and start doing their thing and the smell of maggots is is gut retching.
He did not do his research very well at all, then theres the fact that most of the book is really common sense.
His portrayal of various military weapon systems and their use were wrong, tactics done as though the military was filled up with nothing but morons just total disregard to military urban combat training.
Using the mistaken notion that the military is just going to bunker down and let the zombies come to them instead of utilizing what it excels at: mobile warfare.
Total rubbish is all I could say for his books.
As for movies Zombieland was a good comedic zombie story but I'll take "Le Horde" over it and Romeros latest.

Re: Zombieland
World War Z was a satirical commentary on government and military efficientcy, and the fact that the government is always slow to act in any situation. Most often it is the local people that have to act, and even then many of those people don't act until it's too late.
As for the Zombie Survival Guide, I'm more interested in the tactics and weapons outlined. The Crowbar is not the best weapon, but it is the best make-shift or improv weapon if you use the hook end, and I wouldn't bash the head. I would aim for the neck, to destroy the spinal column. No blood, easier to hit.
The ZSG is a good outline, but is not the total answer. There -are- things I agree with in it, but I don't agree with everything.
Also, there's a reason why the ZSG is usually found in the HUMOR section of bookstores.

Re: Zombieland
I know it took me long enough but finally got around to seeing Zombieland. It is nice to see a movie that actually lives up to the hype. I loved the movie. According to the Wiki page they are going to make a sequel.
