Same reason RT: Macross doesn't have MOSs. When they do military they usually don't get MOSs. Nevermind that the CAF is Navy and doesn't have MOSs
U.S. Army = MOSC
U.S.A.F. = AFSC
U.S.N. = NECC
U.S.M.C = MOSC

The Navy is for enlisted only.

That and MOST of the classes are generalized representation of a specific career field lacking realism in breadth of skills and inflexible.

For example they have a communications MOS in one book. In the USAF there is no comm AFSC, comm is a squadron which includes AFSCs for:
Ground Radar Maintenance
Ground Radio Maintenance
Meteorological and Navigation (METNAV) Equipment Maintenance
Video Intrusion Detection Systems (VIDS) Equipment Maintenance
Database Management
Information Technology
and more.
In game the MOS system is just a clumsy way of simulating a general training base with specialization that the CAF may just not practice.

For the CAF Trooper, you might find the MOS selections for the UEEF Enlisted Crewman/Infantry O.C.C. from the Robotech: Shadow Chronicles book useful.

In that same book, you might find some inspirations from the Military Specialist and Technical Officer MOS options that you could apply to the CAF Fleet Officer.

Oh, and the Robotech:Expeditionary Force Marines source books has a number of new MOS selections too.

because the author did not use MOS's for them. when the book came out, very few OCC's in palladium used the MOS type system. especially in rifts. thus the author probably did not think an MOS type system was needed.

CAF Fleet Officer's don't need them anyway. They are generalists it appears to me.When Battlestar Galactica relaunched, those guys were CAF fleet.

Because Palladium didn't start using MOS's until well after phase world was published. They're a development that came much later in the games lifecycle after a lot of people complained about having roughly 30 published military OCC's to fill the same 4 roles of Grunt, Pilot, Special Forces, and specialist.

I'm been playing around with using some of the Robotech classes in PW with minimal modifications and they work fairly well. The Marine book classes are great for SF types. A Marine Technical Officer with STORM training is a killer specialist.

Because the use of MOS's was an artifact of the 1st ed RT Masters era book and no-where else when the PW book was written.

Unless you nix most of OCC related skills of the CAF troopers, none of the MOS's. The CAF Trooper OCC is meant to show their specialization with their selection of OCC Related skills.

The MOS's can be used as a Guide on which skills to selecte for that specialization.
